Aston Villa and Bayern Munich will meet for the first time since the 1982 European Cup final on Wednesday night (20:00, live on TNT Sports 1) as the German giants travel to Villa Park for matchday two of the Champions League.
Both sides won their opening fixture as Unai Emery's side were 3-0 winners in Switzerland, and Bayern stuck nine past Dinamo Zagreb. Read on for my Aston Villa vs Bayern Munich prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.
Aston Villa vs Bayern Munich Betting Tips
Team News
Emery has been unable to call upon the services of his captain John McGinn for Villa's last two matches due to a hamstring injury, and the Scotland international looks set to miss out again on Wednesday.
Matty Cash is also sidelined, joining long-term absentees Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara on the treatment table.
As for Bayern, Harry Kane went off with a knock for Vincent Kompany's side at the weekend but should recover in time for Wednesday’s encounter. Michael Olise is also expected to feature having been in good form lately while Raphael Guerreiro will continue at right-back, with Josip Stanisic still injured.

Aston Villa are 100/30 to claim a famous victory on Wednesday, while Bayern are favourites at 8/11, giving them an implied win probability of 57.9%, and the draw can be backed at 16/5.
Unsurprisingly, Kane leads the anytime goalscorer market at 9/10, followed by Serge Gnabry at 11/5 and fellow countryman Ollie Watkins at 15/8.
Bayern Munich to win and over 3.5 goals @ 5/2
Villa fans will be on cloud nine when Bayern Munich come to town, as this is just the sort of clash they'll have dreamt about when they gained a place in the Champions League.
Emery's men have had a strong start to the season in the Premier League, losing only to Arsenal and being held to a 2-2 draw at Ipswich on Sunday when a win would have taken them joint top with Liverpool.
Bayern, meanwhile, drew 1-1 with reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, but they have been in rampant form, scoring nine goals in their last European game against Dinamo Zagreb. In fact, the Bavarians have scored 57 goals in their last 13 matches under Vincent Kompany, going back to pre-season, so it's difficult not to see plenty of goalmouth action in this contest.
Villa can certainly play their part here too, as they've scored two or more goals in each of their last six competitive matches. The new Champions League format and a total of eight league matches appears to have incentivised clubs to go for broke in search of three points, and I see that trend continuing this week at Villa Park.
I think Bayern will take home the victory however, given the attacking firepower they possess in the likes of Kane and Olise.

Harry Kane to score 2 or more goals @ 9/2
Which leads me nicely onto my second tip - Kane to score two or more.
As mentioned above, the former Spurs marksman limped off in the 1-1 draw with Leverkusen with a suspected ankle injury, but Kompany expects his star striker to recover in time for Wednesday's outing.
Given that I'm expecting plenty of goals at Villa Park, Kane should be heavily involved having scored 54 goals in 52 appearances for Bayern, including four in the aforementioned thrashing of Zagreb.
The England captain also boasts a great record against Villa from his time in the English top-flight, with eight goals in 13 appearances.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
