Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid Prediction: Gunners to capitalise on Atleti’s dismal away form

Arsenal will look to make it three wins on the spin in the Uefa Champions League when they host Atletico Madrid at the Emirates on Tuesday (20:00 BST, Prime Video). Mikel Arteta's side have also won five consecutive matches in all competitions.
Atleti head here without a single win on their travels this term in any competition, and they are up against one of the best defensive sides in Europe. Read on for my Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid predictions, supported by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Piero Hincapie has returned to training for Arsenal following a groin issue but he is set to miss out again on Tuesday. Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus remain out of action with knee injuries.
Arteta has made a habit of making a couple of alterations for Europe, so we could see Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ben White come in for Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber respectively.
Gabriel Martinelli should replace Saturday's match-winner against Fulham, Leandro Trossard, on the left flank, while Mikel Merino may be deployed in midfield.
Atleti will be without Nico Gonzalez due to concussion protocol after he was taken off in his side's victory over Osasuna at the weekend with a head injury.
Diego Simeone replaced him with his son, Giuliano, and he may be in contention to start in north London. Although, Saturday's match-winner ThiagoAlmada, Javi Galan, Matteo Ruggeri and former Chelsea man Conor Gallagher will also be vying for that spot in the team.
Johnny Cardoso (ankle) is the visitors' other doubt for Tuesday's game, while Clement Lenglet is available for selection following a domestic suspension.
Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid Predicted Lineups
- Arsenal: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Eze, Zubimendi, Rice; Saka, Gyokeres, Martinelli
- Atletico Madrid: Oblak; Llorente, Le Normand, Lenglet, Ruggeri; Simeone, Barrios, Gallagher, Almada; Griezmann, Alvarez
Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid Odds
Having won nine of their 11 competitive fixtures this season, Arsenal are 8/13 (implied probability of 61.9%) to win this contest.
Atleti have experienced four draws from their opening nine matches in La Liga and the stalemate is marketed at 3/1.
They are 5/1 to claim the victory but they are yet to win on their travels in all competitions.
Six of Arsenal's past seven games have produced under 2.5 goals, which is valued at 10/11.
Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid Stats
- Arsenal have won nine of their 11 matches in all competitions this season
- Under 3.5 has struck in all of those victories
- Clement Lenglet (ATM) has been booked twice in the UCL this term
Arsenal and under 3.5 goals @ 6/5
Three goals. That is all that Arsenal have conceded in their first 11 games of the season. The Gunners have been remarkable defensively and I do think they boast one of the best defences in Europe. PSG's back line has the flair thanks to their full-backs but Arsenal's defensive line is one that is well-organised.
Atletico Madrid, a side built on defensive structure under Simeone, will look on enviously on Tuesday seeing in front of them what they used to be. No longer. Atleti are not so difficult to score past and with the attacking talent Arsenal possess, they should have no issues finding the net against a team who have failed to win on their travels this term.
Arsenal have won nine from 11 across all competitions, including their two previous outings in the UCL, which were both won by a 2-0 scoreline. I think backing the Gunners and under 3.5 goals is of value here, because all but one of the host's matches this campaign have featured fewer than four goals.

Clement Lenglet to receive a card @ 11/5
For my second selection I am turning to the card market as I think there will be a couple of bookings in this clash. A player on each team has already been booked in each of the opening two rounds of the Champions League so far and they are Martin Zubimendi (Arsenal) and Lenglet (Atletico Madrid).
I have picked out Lenglet to go into the book because he is about to return from a domestic suspension and I think we could be set to witness some more clumsiness from the Frenchman.
The centre-back has been penalised five times across the first two games so he is averaging 2.5 per 90 in the UCL. He is going to be facing a physical centre-forward in Viktor Gyokeres as well as quick and direct wingers in Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, so I think backing him to go into the book might be a smart play.
