Frank Monkhouse SPL Betting Tips

The Scottish Premiership made global news and broke viewing records in last Sunday’s Old Firm derby at Ibrox.

We’re now set for a grandstand finish to the season, and Betfred’s Frank Monkhouse previews Saturday’s game in Glasgow as offers us his best Celtic vs St Mirren predictions for the 15:00 kick-off on Saturday afternoon...

Celtic vs St Mirren Betting Tips

  • Both teams to score @ Evens
  • Both score and Celtic win @ 13/8

A five-game programme gives followers of the Scottish Premiership plenty to get excited about on Saturday, with Celtic’s home game against St Mirren the pick of the bunch. Brendan Rodgers’ side enjoys home advantage over a side they’ve beaten three times already this term, and another would move them four points clear of nearest rivals Rangers, who visit Ross County on Sunday. Will the Bhoys deliver?

St Mirren make the short trip from Paisley to Glasgow without a win in their last three league games, and their chances of catching Kilmarnock for a top-four finish are fading fast.

The Saints were last in action when losing at home to Hearts and know much better is expected if they are to stand any chance of getting something from Parkhead. St Mirren’s most recent win over Celtic was back in the summer of 2022, and Betfred traders expect that wait to rumble on for at least one more game.

Celtic vs St Mirren Odds

The pre-match betting odds ahead of Celtic’s game against St Mirren offer no surprises, with the home win hot favourite. Rodgers’ side threw away a two-goal lead at half-time to draw 3-3 with Rangers in Govan less than a week ago, and it’ll be interesting to see how much that game took out of the players. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, but the locals must dust themselves down and come again. The Celtic win is priced at 1/5.

Those camped inside the away dressing room before Saturday’s match will know they haven’t been at their best in recent weeks. Have standards slipped since they secured a top-six finish and extra game against the Old Firm? That’s possible, but they performed well here earlier in the campaign and will want to showcase their talents again. The away win is 14/1, with a draw at 11/2.

Both teams to score @ Evens

Our first of two bets in this game sees us back both teams to score at even money, a price that will work well in your weekend accumulators. There’s enough value there if you want to back it as a super single. It’s a strange approach when you remember Celtic won 3-0 and 2-0 in their last two games against the Saints, but stay with us on this one.

Each of Celtic’s last two wins over St Mirren have been in Paisley. The Saints have performed better at Parkhead, scoring in a 2-1 defeat here back in November. It’s also worth noting that both teams scored in the last three meetings when Celtic was the home team. Let’s remember that they conceded three at Ibrox in that derby thriller.

Both score and Celtic win @ 13/8

When expecting Celtic to make home advantage count and tipping both teams to score, it’s worth pairing the two to create a decent bet at a nice price. Backing both teams to score in a Celtic win would’ve earned you a profit when St Mirren were last in town and two of their previous three visits, with the spare a 2-2 draw late last season.

St Mirren haven’t been winning of late, but they have been finding the net, scoring at home to Hearts, away to Motherwell, at Kilmarnock, and in each of their last six league games. Celtic conceded three at Rangers, one against St Johnstone, two when bottom club Livingston came calling, and another two at Tynecastle last month.
