Huddersfield vs Morecambe Prediction: Town to keep up perfect start

It was a successful start to the season for League 1 leaders Huddersfield Town but can they keep up that form in the opening round of the Carabao Cup against League 2 Morecambe on Tuesday evening (19:45 Sky Sports+)?
Read on for my Huddersfield vs Morecambe prediction and all the latest team news ahead of this cup clash in West Yorkshire.

Team News
It was the perfect start to the Michael Duff era on Saturday, as the Terriers showed that a drop in levels to League 1 should suit them just fine, dispatching Peterborough with ease 2-0 in front of the travelling West Yorkshire faithful.
However, the new Town manager is expected to make some changes here and Huddersfield have a dire League Cup record in recent years, making the second round on just one occasion in the last five years.
It remains to be seen just how drastically Duff will rotate the side but even a weakened Town XI will be expected to get the job done against a Morecambe side that is amongst the favourites to be relegated from the English Football League come the season's end.
There are no known injuries for Shrimps boss Derek Adams but again, he could be tempted to rotate his pack, after a narrow 1-0 loss at the weekend against Walsall.

Unsurprisingly, the home side are 1/2 favourites to progress to the second round with a victory on home soil, giving them an implied win probability of 66%, while the visitors are 5/1, or a 16% chance.
The draw can be backed at 3/1, both teams to score at 4/5, and over 2.5 total goals at 4/6.
Huddersfield to win to Nil @ 8/5
It feels remarkably strange to be so positive in a Huddersfield Town match preview but Michael Duff seems to have got the squad fit and actually playing some decent football for a change. At £10 a ticket on Tuesday night and a fiver for kids, it looks like there could be a fairly decent attendance for a first round EFL Cup match and the Terriers fans should have plenty to shout about regardless of the starting eleven that Duff ends up selecting.
Morecambe haven't won a game since the 1st April and though their loss on Saturday was a close one, they still ended up blanking in front of goal. I suspect that may be the same scenario on Tuesday and think it should be another comfortable win to nil for Town.
Danny Ward anytime goalscorer @ 8/5
One man who may benefit from Duff's rotations is Danny Ward. The 32-year-old struggled with injuries last year and seems to be down the pecking order in the Terriers striker depth charts, however, he still knows where the goal is and can be relied upon to finish when provided with chances.
Ward had one of his best campaigns ever in 2021/22, registering 14 league goals for the West Yorkshire side and against a League 2 defence, should get a few chances to notch another goal for Huddersfield on Tuesday night.
