Blackpool

There's plenty of football on offer this Saturday, November 16, with international action from the Uefa Nations League and Conmebol World Cup qualification, as well as domestic contests in England and Brazil.

I've picked out five games in my BTTS Tips that I believe will feature at least a goal on either side, and the five-leg accumulator pays out at a handsome 14.19/1.

BTTS - Yes in Blackpool vs Northampton Town (15:00, Sky Sports+) @ 4/6

Kicking off this BTTS acca is Northampton Town's trip to Bloomfield Stadium, where they take on hosts Blackpool, who are managed by Premier League and EFL journeyman Steve Bruce.

The 63-year-old took charge of the Seasiders at the start of September and oversaw four straight wins in League 1, with his side scoring nine goals in the process.

Blackpool are winless in six league games since, although Bruce has spent time on compassionate leave during that time.

Northampton are level on 16 points with Saturday's hosts, who are one place below the Cobblers on account of an inferior goal difference.

There's nothing to separate the teams in the BTTS table either, with Blackpool and Northampton seeing 64 per cent (nine) of their 14 games finish with at least a goal on either side.

The figure is even higher at home for Blackpool (71 per cent) and higher on the road for Northampton (86 per cent), so I've got confidence that we will see some goals between the two on Saturday, at least one for each.

Blackpool have only failed to score once at home in the league this season, in a 3-0 defeat to Stockport County on August 17, while a 1-0 defeat to Bristol Rovers on August 10 - the opening weekend of the League 1 campaign - is the only away game in which Northampton have failed to fire.

BTTS - Yes in Stockport County vs Wrexham (15:00, Sky Sports+) @ 4/6

Sticking with League 1, I'm backing both Stockport County and Wrexham to find the back of the net at Edgeley Park on Saturday.

Only leaders Wycombe Wanderers (32) and Peterborough United (31) have scored more goals than Stockport (25) in the English third tier this season, while Wrexham aren't too far behind on 22.

Neither feature too highly in the League 1 BTTS table - Stockport are 11th, with 53 per cent (eight) of their 15 games seeing at least a goal on either side, while Wrexham are joint-18th with 36 per cent (five) of their 14 ending with both teams scoring.

However, they're both regular scorers in their own right, with Saturday's hosts only failing to score on two occasions, and the Welsh side blanking four times.

Wrexham are currently third, four points ahead of sixth-placed County having played a match fewer, and both are expected to be in the promotion picture, so there is a chance for one side to lay down a serious marker.

With the likes of Louie Barry and Kyle Wootton, who have scored 10 and six goals respectively in League 1 this season, in the Stockport ranks, and Paul Mullin up top for the Red Dragons, there should be a few strikes in this Saturday showdown.

BTTS - Yes in Milton Keynes Dons vs Cheltenham Town (15:00, Sky Sports+) @ 8/11

The third and final EFL match in Saturday's BTTS acca comes from Stadium MK, where Milton Keynes Dons take on Cheltenham Town in League 2.

A 3-1 win over Swindon Town last weekend lifted MK up to sixth, six points ahead of 16th-placed Cheltenham, who drew 1-1 at home to Bromley last time out.

We should see a decent game unfold in Milton Keynes with BTTS a regular occurrence for both sides this season.

Alongside Bradford City, Cheltenham top the League 2 BTTS table with 73 per cent (11) of their 15 fourth-tier contests ending with at least one goal on either side, heavily powered by their away games (86 per cent).

MK are only slightly down with 60 per cent (nine) of their 15 encounters finishing with both teams scoring.

Both teams have found the net in MK's last four League 1 matches and six of Cheltenham's last seven, so the conditions are there for a few efforts this weekend.

BTTS - Yes in Sweden vs Slovakia (19:45, Viaplay International YouTube) @ 8/11

Later on in the evening, Sweden and Slovakia do battle at the Strawberry Arena in Uefa Nations League Group C1, with both nations locked on 10 points ahead of this round-five clash.

The sides played out a 2-2 draw in Bratislava last month as Slovakia battled from two goals down to take a point.

Both sides have seen BTTS - Yes land in half (two) of their four group games so far, with Slovakia's other coming last time out in a 3-1 win over Azerbaijan in Baku, and Sweden's in a victory by the same scoreline over the same opponents in the same location.

Sweden and Slovakia are both guaranteed a top-two finish in Group C1 and thus one will secure automatic promotion to Group B, leaving the other to fight for promotion in a play-off next year.

I think we could witness another entertaining clash between these two on Saturday as they go all out to take spot spot in this winner-takes-all game.

BTTS - Yes in Athletico Paranaense vs Atletico Mineiro (21:30) @ 5/6

Last but not least is a Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A contest between Athletico Paranaense and Atletico Mineiro at the Ligga Arena in Curitiba.

Saturday's hosts are battling to avoid relegation as they currently sit 18th in the 20-team league, three points from 16th-placed Juventude, who occupy the final survival slot.

Atletico, meanwhile, are 10th on 42 points and will be targeting a top-seven finish that would grant them access to the Copa Libertadores qualification stage, though they can secure automatic entry to the group stage of the competition by winning this year's final against Botafogo, which takes place on November 30.

The visitors ground out a goalless draw at Flamengo in the early hours of Thursday (UK time) but feature fourth in the Serie A BTTS table with 63 per cent (20) of their 33 league games finishing with at least a goal on either side.

It's a less common occurrence for Athletico, who have seen both teams score in 50 per cent (16) of their 32 matches, although that rises slightly to 53 per cent at home.

Curiously, the last five meetings - four of which took place in 2023 - between these sides have seen BTTS - Yes land, so the statistics back up the belief that we could see some goals this weekend, despite Atletico failing to score in four of their last five games across all competitions.
