Bristol City vs Coventry Prediction: Robins to down Mark

Two Championship teams go head-to-head in the EFL Cup as Coventry travel to Bristol to take on the Robins at Ashton Gate (19:45, Sky Sports+). The Sky Blues tasted defeat in their opening Championship encounter, while Bristol City had to settle for a draw at Hull having conceded a late penalty.
Below you can find my Bristol City vs Coventry prediction, featuring betting tips and odds.
Team News
After his goal from the bench, Fally Mayulu is likely to make his first Bristol City start in this one. He impressed at Hull and after his move from Rapid Wien will hope to make a big impact for the Robins this term. Meanwhile, Nahki Wells, Sam Bell and Taylor Gardner-Hickman could all be given starts as Liam Manning looks to get his players up to speed.
Meanwhile, Mark Robins will also be looking to his bench to freshen his side up. Liam Kitching could play in defence having served a one-match suspension, while Josh Eccles is likely to come into midfield. Haji Wright could make a start after coming off the bench at Stoke, while Brandon Thomas-Asante may be given the nod up front.
Bristol City are 13/10 to win this one in 90 minutes, while the away side can be backed at 13/8. A draw is available at 12/5, BTTS is 4/7 and over 2.5 goals is 4/6.
Bristol City to win @ 13/10
Coventry have been sluggish starters in each of the last two seasons, and it looks like that may continue this term. Their defeat at Stoke at the weekend was poor, and given the expectation that has been placed on their shoulders this term, more was expected from the Sky Blues.
Their real issue seems to be in midfield where the injury to Ben Sheaf has truly hampered them. He is set to be out for a few weeks, so Eccles, Victor Torp and Jack Rudoni could play in the middle. There’s not much defensive nous in that trio, and I feel Bristol City could take full advantage.
Meanwhile, the Robins have a strong squad, and decent home form, which Liam Manning will want to harness. They are coming up against a club who simply hate the Carabao Cup. In the last 11 seasons, Coventry have been dumped out in the first round eight times, and in the second round the other three. Three League Cup wins in over a decade, and I expect that dismal record to continue here.
Fally Mayulu to score anytime @ 2/1
Mayulu was seriously impressive as he came off the bench to find the net at the MKM Stadium. He captialised on a defensive error at the edge of the box, brought the ball down with his right knee and fired into the far corner with his left foot. His confidence will be sky-high after a debut goal, and I think he will be given a start in the Carabao Cup.
With Coventry’s insecure midfield, I think Mayulu is a great price to score anytime in this one, given he should once again be a threat. If he can find the net once, we will be onto a winner.
