Brighton vs manchester city

Manchester City will be looking to respond in the Premier League title race when they travel to the Amex Stadium on Saturday evening to take on Brighton & Hove Albion (17:30, live on Sky Sports Main Event).

Pep Guardiola’s side were beaten 2-1 at Bournemouth last time out in the league and fell to a 4-1 loss away at Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Tuesday as a difficult run continued. Meanwhile, the Seagulls lost 2-1 at Anfield and will be ruing their missed chances on Merseyside. Read on for my Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester City prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

The hosts are without Adam Webster, James Milner and Solly March, however, they could welcome back the likes of Yankuba Minteh and Matt O’Riley.

City’s injury crisis has eased somewhat, though John Stones and Ruben Dias are not likely to feature here, while Rodri and Oscar Bobb are notable long-term absentees.

On a brighter note, Kevin De Bruyne made a brief cameo against Sporting Lisbon in midweek as he looks to step up his return from injury.

City are 8/11 favourites for the match, giving them an implied winning probability of 57.9%, while the hosts are available to back at 100/30 and the draw is priced up at 16/5.

Erling Haaland leads the anytime goalscorer market at 4/5, while Joao Pedro is shortest-priced for the hosts at 23/10.

Draw and both teams to score - yes @ 7/2

I correctly tipped double chance - Bournemouth or draw for City's clash at the Vitality last week, and I can see their poor run of form continuing this weekend at the Amex.

Guardiola's side have lost each of their last three games - the first time that's happened since 2018 - and they'll know that they can't afford another defeat here if they want to keep within touching distance of Liverpool at the top of the table.

Brighton will be aiming to extend that losing streak to four games, and the Seagulls have impressed so far under new manager Fabian Hurzeler. They sit in eighth place after 10 matches in the Premier League, two points adrift of the top four, having tasted defeat twice.

In fact, Brighton haven't lost at the Amex this term, and without the quality of Ruben Dias or John Stones at the back, I don't see City keeping a clean sheet here.

I would be shocked if City lost four on the spin, but given the fact both sides play on the front foot, I can see the Sky Blues settling for a point on Saturday.

Over 3.5 goals @ 5/4

This match sees two teams with leaky defences squaring off, so it could be a goal fest.

Brighton's last three Premier League home games have all gone over 3.5 goals, while the same bet has also landed in four of City's last eight encounters across all competitions.

Last season's meeting at the Amex between the sides also saw over 3.5 goals land, as City cruised to a 4-0 win. Given all that, I'm predicting plenty of goals this weekend.
