An injury-hit Brighton & Hove Albion face the latest test of their resolve on Wednesday night (19:30), as they welcome Brentford to the American Express Stadium hoping to get back on track after a 3-2 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.

The Seagulls are currently without a host of first-team stars, which has led to some rather inconsistent results in the Premier League. Roberto De Zerbi's side haven't recorded back-to-back league wins since September 16.

Meanwhile, Brentford got back on track after a couple of defeats with a 3-1 victory over Luton Town on Saturday, and they can draw level on points with Brighton if they pick up all three points in midweek.

Brighton vs Brentford Betting Tips:

  • Draw or Brentford @ 9/10
  • #PickYourPunt BTTS - YES, Joao Pedro to score anytime & Saman Ghoddos carded @ 9/1

Team News

Brighton's lengthy injury list includes Pervis Estupinan, Tariq Lamptey, Ansu Fati, Solly March and Julio Enciso, while Lewis Dunk and Mahmoud Dahoud will serve the second game of their respective suspensions.

Joao Pedro, Kaoru Mitoma and Pascal Gross are all likely to return to the starting XI after substitute appearances at Stamford Bridge.

Brentford lost Kristoff Ajer to injury in the warm-up on Saturday which prompted a second successive start at right-back for Saman Ghoddos, and the Norwegian could join fellow defenders Nathan Collins, Aaron Hickey and Rico Henry on the sidelines.

Kevin Schade is also still out, while Christian Norgaard is banned after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Luton. Shandon Baptiste could replace the 29-year-old after coming off the bench to score a late goal against the Hatters.

Match Odds

Brighton are 10/11 to win at home for the third time in the Premier League this season, with Brentford priced at 13/5 to claim the victory. The draw is available at 11/4.

Both teams scored in the corresponding fixture last season and it's 8/15 for BTTS - Yes on Wednesday.

Draw or Brentford @ 9/10

The Bees took four points from their two games with Brighton last season, which included a belting 3-3 draw at the Amex.

The Seagulls have been a tough team to beat there so far this term, with West Ham the only English club to have won there. However, successive draws with Sheffield United and Fulham have dampened spirits in East Sussex, and they face a stern test of their credentials against a Brentford side who seem to perform better down south.

Trips up north to Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester (United) have seen the West London club come away with zero goals and just one point. Further down the country, a clash in the East Midlands with Nottingham Forest ended in a draw, while shorter journeys to Chelsea and Fulham ended in three points for Brentford.

Thomas Frank's side have selection issues themselves with the absence of Norgaard a particularly sore one for them, but the injuries and inconsistencies at Brighton should provide a presentable opportunity for them to, at worst, avoid defeat.

#PickYourPunt BTTS - YES, Joao Pedro to score anytime & Saman Ghoddos carded @ 9/1

Both teams to score has won in every Premier League game Brighton have been involved in this term, so you'd be a brave person to back against it happening in midweek. That's the 'easy' one out of the way on this #PickYourPunt bet.

Next up is Joao Pedro to score. The 22-year-old has scored in each of his last three appearances for Albion, with his late goal in West London on Sunday making it 10 for the season. He should start on Wednesday and is their designated penalty taker, which boosts his chances of finding the net.

Lastly, I'm backing Ghoddos - if he starts - to receive a card. The Iran international usually plays further up the field but injuries have seen him thrust into an unfamiliar right-back position in Brentford's last two games.

Ghoddos has impressed but he might find things tougher up against Mitoma, widely regarded as one of the trickiest wingers in the division. The 30-year-old has already picked up three yellow cards this season, despite making just two starts.
