Brentford vs ipswich predictions betting tips premier league saturday october 26 2024

Brentford will be happy to return to more familiar settings on Saturday (15:00) when they host Ipswich Town at the Gtech Community Stadium, where they have collected all 10 of their Premier League points this season. The visitors, meanwhile, are still searching for their first win since securing promotion from the EFL Championship.

Read on for my Brentford vs Ipswich prediction, complete with all the latest team news and match odds.

Brentford vs Ipswich Betting Tips

  • First Goalscorer - Bryan Mbeumo @ 4/1
  • Double Chance & BTTS - Brentford or Draw & Yes @ 1/1

Team News

Igor Thiago, Gustavo Nunes, Aaron Hickey and Josh Dasilva remain sidelined for the hosts, but left-back Rico Henry is closing in on a return to the squad following his long-term injury. Whether Saturday is the day he makes his return, remains to be seen.

Mathias Jensen, who hasn't featured since the 3-1 win over Southampton on August 31, is expected to be available for selection this weekend, while Yoane Wissa came back from a four-game absence to appear in the second half of last Saturday's 2-1 loss at Manchester United and will be pushing Kevin Schade and Keane Lewis-Potter for a starting spot against Ipswich.

Football Odds

Jacob Greaves missed Ipswich's 2-0 defeat at home to Everton last weekend and is expected to sit out again in west London. Axel Tuanzebe, Ben Johnson and Massimo Luongo are also still sidelined.

However, there are more positive sounds over Jens Cajuste and Ali Al-Hamadi, neither of whom have featured this month so far.

Brentford are 7/10 to pick up their fourth Premier League home victory of the season, giving the Bees an implied win probability of 58.8%, while Ipswich are 18/5, or a 21.7% chance, to triumph for the first time in the top flight since securing promotion earlier this year.

Both teams to score is priced at 8/13 and over 2.5 total goals at the same price (8/13), while Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo (23/20) leads the anytime goalscorer market, with Liam Delap (23/10) first up for Ipswich.

First Goalscorer - Bryan Mbeumo @ 4/1

This has been a winning bet in three of Brentford's four Premier League home games this season including the Bees' 1-1 draw with West Ham United, where I successfully tipped Bryan Mbeumo to strike first at the Gtech Community Stadium. The odds were 5/1 for that September 28 clash, and while it's down to 4/1 for this weekend's visit of Ipswich, that's probably fair considering he went on to score first against the Irons, who are an established Premier League club compared, unlike the Tractor Boys.

Mbeumo opened the scoring in home wins over Crystal Palace and Southampton before netting first against Julen Lopetegui's Hammers, while it took him just 20 minutes to fire in Brentford's 5-3 victory over Wolves last time out at the Gtech. Unfortunately for the Frenchman, he was beaten to the punch by Nathan Collins' second-minute effort, which was followed by an equaliser from Old Gold forward Matheus Cunha just two minutes later.

Five of Mbeumo's six Premier League goals this season have come at home, and five of his last seven strikes in the competition - stretching back to the 2023/24 campaign - have been the first of the match.

Brentford scored inside the first minute in three successive games against Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham in September, with Mbeumo netting two of those goals, and they were also in front very early on against Wolves through Collins.

I'm backing the Bees to make another fast start on Saturday, and it could well be Mbeumo who hands them an early lead again.

Double Chance & BTTS - Brentford or Draw & Yes @ 1/1

Dare I say it, but this has all the hallmarks of being a thoroughly entertaining encounter in west London. Let's just hope that I haven't jinxed that now.

The 'both teams to score' table is a big reason for suggesting entertainment as no Premier League club has a higher percentage of games ending with a goal on either side than Brentford (88 per cent), who are level with Manchester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester.

Ipswich aren't too far behind the Bees with 63 per cent (5/8) of their top-flight matches seeing both teams score, including their last two away from home at West Ham and Southampton.

It's hard to make a case for the Tractor Boys winning on Saturday as they are yet to win home or away in the Premier League, while Brentford are unbeaten at home, winning three of their four games at the Gtech.

However, Ipswich have drawn four times this term, twice on their travels - at Brighton & Hove Albion (0-0) and Southampton (1-1) - while they held Champions League league phase leaders Aston Villa to a 2-2 stalemate at Portman Road last month.

I would go for Brentford if I was forced to pick a team to win, but at EVS, I think the safer option is to side with the double chance result on Brentford, together with both teams to score.
