Brentford vs Sheff Utd Prediction: 50/1 correct score longshot

Sheffield United are in search of all three points to keep their faint Premier League survival hopes alive. They are now nine points from safety with seven games to play, and they will need to win most of those remaining fixtures to have any hope of pulling off the greatest escape we’ve ever seen.

Next up for the Blades is a trip to Brentford, who have slowly drifted towards a relegation battle over the last few months. The Bees sit just four points above the dotted line, and will be targeting a win here to pull themselves away from danger. Below you can find my Brentford vs Sheff Utd prediction.

Brentford vs Sheff Utd Tips

  • Draw and BTTS @ 5/1
  • Correct score: Brentford 3-3 Sheff Utd @ 50/1

Team News

Rico Henry, Ben Mee and Josh Dasilva are out for the season, while Ethan Pinnock is close to a return and could be named in the squad for this one. The same can be said for Christian Norgaard, while Ivan Toney is near-certain to start here having been named on the bench for the draw at Villa Park.

Sheffield United are without Max Lowe, Rhys Norrington-Davies, Chris Basham and John Egan for the rest of the campaign. George Baldock and Tom Davies will miss the next month of action, but Oliver Arblaster has impressed since coming into the midfield and is likely to start again. Oli McBurnie and Ben Brereton Diaz should continue up top.

Match Odds

Brentford are priced at 2/5 to win this game, giving them an implied win probability of 71%. Sheff Utd are 6/1, and a draw can be backed at 4/1. If you fancy goals, BTTS is 4/6 and over 2.5 goals is 1/2

Draw and BTTS @ 5/1

These two are usually involved in games featuring a lot of goals. Twenty two of Brentford’s 32 games this season have ended BTTS, a total of 69%, while Sheff Utd sit at 58% for that same statistic. I believe both teams will find the net here, with the last four Sheff Utd matches ending with both teams on the scoresheet.

Six of the last seven Brentford matches have ended BTTS and so I’m near-certain we will see goals at both ends in the capital. However, I also think an improving Sheffield United can get something here, with a draw the most likely outcome in my eyes. The Blades have drawn three of their last four, while the Bees have drawn their last three on the bounce.

This selection makes a lot of sense, and a price of 5/1 feels generous.

Correct score: Brentford 3-3 Sheff Utd @ 50/1

Let's go for it. Why not? A 50/1 shout to kick off the weekend.

This might seem like an outlandish scoreline to predict, and the price seems to suggest it is unlikely - but it actually isn’t out of the question. Brentford have drawn their last three with BTTS as we’ve just mentioned, while Sheff Utd have drawn three out of their last four with BTTS coming in.

Interestingly though, Sheffield United drew 3-3 with Fulham, and two of their other draws have ended 2-2. This is a team that simply cannot keep a clean sheet, but they’ve also shown some decent attacking intent over the last month. Meanwhile, guess what Brentford’s last result was?

Yep. A 3-3 draw at Villa Park. They showed defensive weakness during that 90 minutes and could be exposed again here. This could be another sensational match, and it could well finish 3-3 again.
