Newcastle United suffered Champions League disappointment in midweek as they were beaten 2-0 by Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday and they will be looking to bounce back in the Premier League when they visit Bournemouth on Saturday evening.

The Cherries remain in the relegation zone after a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City last weekend and are aiming for just their second league win of the season.

Newcastle to win

Newcastle picked up a crucial 1-0 win over Arsenal last weekend and, despite their extensive injury list, they should be able to pick up another three points in this match-up.

Bournemouth have lost seven of their 11 league matches this season and following last weekend’s hammering by Manchester City, only Sheffield United had conceded more goals than their 27.

The Cherries are also among the lowest scorers in the division and the Magpies are unbeaten in their last eight meetings with these opponents.

Eddie Howe’s men have already beaten Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and the Gunners this season and Bournemouth are simply not on that level.

Even an under-strength Magpies outfit should be able to record another victory on the South Coast.

Anthony Gordon to score

Anthony Gordon featured from the bench against Dortmund in midweek, playing through the middle after Callum Wilson was replaced.

The former Everton man may return to his usual position out wide in this clash and is fancied to make it two goals in two Premier League games.

Gordon has four goals in nine starts for Eddie Howe’s men and with their injury issues is likely to play as much as his body will allow him, take him to get on the scoresheet.

Milos Kerkez to be shown a card

Young left-back Milos Kerkez has been thrown in at the deep end in the Premier League, starting ten of Bournemouth’s first 11 games this season.

The 20-year-old has given up the most fouls of any Cherries player, 14, and has already been booked three times in all competitions.

He is likely to line up against the tricky Miguel Almiron and could well find himself in a battle, so take Kerkez to be shown a card as a result.

Over 2.5 goals

Coming into the 12th round of Premier League games, only Man City had scored more goals than Newcastle’s 27 and they could fill their boots against a Bournemouth defence that have struggled this season.

Seven of the Cherries’ last eight games in all competitions have gone over 2.5 goals and the same looks likely when they host the Magpies.

Bournemouth have netted in their last four games, however, and could contribute to a high-scoring clash in this late kick-off.
