John Eustace continues his quest to drag Blackburn Rovers away from danger with a home match against play-off contenders Norwich City. David Wagner has overcome criticism this season to fire his side up the table and now they look like genuine contenders for promotion after an unassuming start to the campaign.

Below we preview the clash at Ewood Park, which kicks off at 15:00 on Saturday afternoon.

Blackburn vs Norwich Tips

  • Norwich to win and BTTS @ 3/1
  • Norwich to score over 3.5 goals @ 9/1

Team News

Kyle McFadzean and Dom Hyam look set to continue their renewed partnership at the heart of Blackburn’s defence alongside Scott Wharton, as the trio helped keep a clean sheet at Cardiff in midweek. Joe Rankin-Costello, John Fleck, Harry Pickering and Hayden Carter are all expected to miss the clash through injury,

Norwich remain without key wide man Jon Rowe, while Shane Duffy is also absent. Aside from that, the Canaries have a fully fit squad to choose from, with Josh Sargent on top form having bagged a brace last time out.

Match Odds

Blackburn are priced at 8/5 to win this match, as are Norwich City which just shows how tight the game could be. A draw can be backed at 5/2, BTTS is 1/2 and over 2.5 goals is 8/13

Norwich to win and BTTS @ 3/1

The Canaries have been in imperious form of late, winning four of their last six matches. That run has thrust them into the play-off conversation, and they are now looking like one of the most threatening teams in the division. Josh Sargent’s return has reinvigorated their attack and the American’s pace and direct running is causing havoc for opposition teams.

The front four is made up of Sargent, Ashley Barnes, Onel Hernandez and Borja Sainz, with Christian Fassnacht and Sydney van Hooijdonk excellent options from the bench. Only Leeds and Liverpool have beaten Norwich in 2024 and Wagner’s men still managed to score twice in that defeat at Anfield.

Blackburn are trying to change things under Eustace, with two draws on the bounce improving their position somewhat. But they should have beaten Preston away having gone 2-0 up and possess the top goalscorer in the division in Sammie Szmodics. They should score here, but I think Norwich will come out with the three points.

Norwich to score over 3.5 goals @ 9/1

How much do I really fancy Norwich’s attack this weekend? I wasn’t planning on pushing it quite this far but the price of 9/1 for them to score 4+ caught my eye. Norwich have scored four goals in each of their last two games, blowing away Cardiff City and Watford at Carrow Road. Now, I fancy that they will cause Blackburn serious problems at Ewood Park so the longshot price on them to make it a hat-trick of four-goal hauls feels generous.

Sargent has revamped this team, and Sainz has the talent to tear teams apart. Given Rovers are still finding their feet under their new boss, I think they could be in for a pasting. We could see a glut of goals on Saturday afternoon, and Norwich could stake their claim as one of the finest attacking teams in the division.
