After back-to-back defeats to opposition from across the Pennines, Blackburn Rovers look capable of getting back to winning ways on Tuesday night (19:45) when they play hosts to Bristol City in the Championship.

Blackburn vs Bristol City Betting Tips

  • Blackburn to win and both teams to score @ 11/4
  • Samuel Szmodics to score anytime @ 7/5

Rovers have come off second best in their recent defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United but there was enough in their performance against the Whites to suggest they can overcome the Robins at Ewood Park.

City head into this game without a win in their last three outings and it’s difficult to see their fortunes changing in Lancashire in this midweek encounter.

Team news

Arnor Sigurdsson and Niall Ennis returned from injury against Leeds and the pair will be pushing for starting roles on Tuesday.

Rovers will still be without Sam Gallagher as the forward continues to recover from a tendon injury.

As for the visitors, Nahki Wells could make his return from an ankle injury he picked up against Leeds back in October.

The Robins could also be boosted by summer signing Ross McCrorie making his first competitive appearance following his move from Aberdeen.

McCrorie has been out since having surgery on a bacterial infection but could be set for his debut, while the game will come too soon for Andy King, as the former Leicester City Premier League winner continues to recover from a hamstring issue.

Match odds

Rovers are the 19/20 favourites to claim all three points on Tuesday, while City are available at 19/20 to secure the win. A stalemate at Ewood Park is 19/20 .

Over 3.5 total goals, which landed in the last meeting between these sides in Lancashire, is currently 19/20  to come in again.

Blackburn to win and both teams to score @ 11/4

Tuesday might well be an entertaining encounter with both teams dealing with their defensive struggles.

Rovers have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 12 home games in the Championship, while City have kept one clean sheet in their last nine away league matches.

Blackburn looked good in spells against an in-form Leeds side at the weekend and on another day might have been able to get something from the contest.

Jon Dahl Tomasson will take the positives from the game and Rovers should be able to get back to winning ways this week against the Robins, who themselves might well get on the scoresheet.

Samuel Szmodics to score anytime @ 7/5

Still the leading goalscorer in the Championship with 14 in 20 games, Sammie Szmodics has been enjoying an excellent season at Rovers.

With seven goals in Rovers’ last six Championship games, it would be little surprise to see him add to his tally against a leaky Robins’ defence this week.

The fact the visitors are one of Szmodics’ former clubs might well give the 28-year-old added motivation.
