Football Bet of the Day: The Selecao expected to dominate

Just days after a late win against Chile, Brazil will turn their attention to Peru, as the two sides meet in a World Cup qualifier in the early hours of Wednesday morning (01:45, live on Premier Sports 1).
My football bet of the day focuses on what should be an intriguing encounter, with Brazil hoping to keep their spot in the automatic qualifying positions, while Peru moved off the bottom of the section with their first win last week.
Football Bet of the Day - Wednesday, October 16
- Brazil -2 @ 2/1
Brazil were given a stern test by Chile last time out, fighting back from a goal down to claim a 2-1 victory, as they seek to continue their fantastic record of reaching every single World Cup finals.
The Selecao fell behind early on until Igor Jesus netted an equaliser on the stroke of half-time, before his Botafogo teammate Luiz Henrique scored an 89th-minute winner in the Chilean capital.
That result means that Dorival Junior's side have won two of their last three qualifying matches, but the teams around them also picked up points, meaning that the Selecao remain only two points inside the automatic qualifying places.
Three wins in 10 competitive matches is almost unheard of for a nation like Brazil, and another victory at home to one of the weakest nations in South America at present is vital. A run of five consecutive wins over Peru should fill the hosts with plenty of confidence, despite their recent results.

Up until Friday, Peru were the only nation left in Conmebol qualifying without a win, but that was put right with a surprise victory over Uruguay, courtesy of an 88th-minute strike from Miguel Araujo.
That result was Peru's first competitive win in two years and also lifted Jorge Fossati's side off the foot of the standings. La Bicolor remain five points off a play-off place, but there's still time for them to turn things around, if they can build on that positive result against Uruguay.
However, the odds are firmly stacked against them here - the visitors have failed to net in six of their last eight road games, and Brazil haven't conceded a goal against Peru in their last four outings.
The Selecao secured a 1-0 victory in the last meeting between the pair but I believe Brazil can rack up the scoreline here. Even without injured Vinicius Jr., Brazil have plenty of attacking quality in the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Luiz Henrique, Rodrygo and Raphinha.
I'm expecting Brazil to dominate proceedings, which is why I've opted to back them -2 on the handicap.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
