There is a lot of excitement building ahead of Borussia Dortmund's Champions League semi-final first leg against Paris Saint-Germain at Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday night (20:00). The two teams, who shared Group F together in the first half of the campaign, have done excellently to reach this stage of Europe's most prestigious competition, and there should be two cracking fixtures in store for us.

Looking for value in the markets on offer for this match, I have put together a two-legged bet builder that revolves around one key player for each team worth 10/1, which I have selected as my football bet of the day.

Football Bet of the Day: Wednesday, May 1

  • #PickYourPunt - Marcel Sabitzer 1+ assists and Kylian Mbappe anytime scorer @ 10/1

For Dortmund, the player in question is Marcel Sabitzer. The Austrian midfielder has been key in their progress to this stage of the Champions League and I'm expecting him to play a huge role once again in his side's home leg - as they look to end the season without defeat at home in Europe.

The man who spent last season on loan at Manchester United has been the Black and Yellows' architect in the Champions League this term with five assists to his name. No player has provided more than the 30-year-old and he assisted two goals in his last European outing against Atletico Madrid, while also scoring one for himself in what was a stunning player of the match performance.

He has been a tricky operator on this stage throughout the season and I think he will be able to cause Les Parisiens a lot of problems on home soil this Wednesday. Sabitzer is going to be a strong contender for the Champions League Team of the Season, and another positive attacking display from him in midweek will most likely secure his place in the XI.

Five assists in nine appearances is impressive no matter the competition, but it is extra special when managed in the Champions League with the pedigree of the opposition. Against a PSG side which has conceded four goals in their last two European fixtures, I fancy Sabitzer to find many gaps and spaces to exploit and set up a goal for his side.

On the opposing team, as you can imagine, Kylian Mbappe is the player selected for PSG. The French international leads the way for goals in the Champions League this campaign with eight so far, and I think that his tally will rise to at least nine on Wednesday night inside Signal Iduna Park.

He averages a goal every 113 minutes in Europe this year and across all competitions this year he has found the back of the net 42 times. The forward has four goals in his last three outings, including two braces, one of which came against Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-final second leg two weeks ago.

Mbappe is heading to Dortmund in great form and he will be full of confidence, especially as he has already scored against them in Europe this year, so the Dortmund players will be well aware of the threat he poses. The Yellow Wall has stood firm at home in Europe but I think one of the continent's best goalscorers will find his way through.
