Football Bet of the Day: Leeds to run riot against Stoke

Leeds United take on Stoke City in the Championship at Elland Road on Tuesday night (19:45) looking to get back to winning ways after having to settle for a point against 10-men Huddersfield Town at the weekend. The Whites are two points behind Ipswich Town in second and a win could see them leapfrog the Tractor Boys.

They welcome a Stoke outfit which currently finds itself inside the relegation zone on goals scored. Steven Schumacher's side picked up a valuable win against Middlesbrough last time out but they will face a much tougher test against Leeds. It is from this fixture that our bet of the day comes.

Football Bet of the Day - Tuesday 5 March

  • Over 2.5 Leeds goals in Leeds United vs Stoke City @ 5/4

Daniel Farke's Leeds have been a formidable force in the second tier since the new year. They had won nine league games on the bounce before drawing with the Terriers, and with an automatic promotion spot still very much within their sights, we're expecting them to get back to winning ways in midweek against the struggling Potters.

Stoke may be feeling good about themselves after beating Michael Carrick's consistently inconsistent Middlesbrough, but that is most likely going to be short-lived as they come across one of the best sides in the division. The home side have enjoyed scoring goals this term as they have racked up a total of 65.

Only Leicester City (71), Ipswich (70) and Southampton (69) have outscored them at this stage. With Crysencio Summerville, Patrick Bamford, Joel Piroe, Georginio Rutter and Dan James, Farke has many players he can rely upon to deliver the goods, while that is a lot of firepower for the Potters to deal with on Tuesday.

We fancy the hosts to grab at least three goals in this one because they're at home and facing one of the worst-performing teams in the league. In 13 of their 35 matches in the Championship this year, we have seen Leeds score over 2.5 goals and we think come full-time on Tuesday, that stat will increase to 14.

This selection has landed in five of their 10 Championship fixtures in 2024, and there have been no signs that they are going to slow down on the goal front. With automatic promotion and a league title to fight for, Farke's men will not rest on their laurels with 11 games left to play.

Over 2.5 Leeds goals at 5/4
