After an emphatic 5-0 home victory over Kalmar on Friday, Malmo return to the Eleda Stadium on Tuesday evening (18:00) to face Elfsborg, the only side to have beaten them in the Allsvenskan so far this season.

The hosts were beaten 3-1 that day just over a month ago, and they will be looking to avenge that defeat here on Tuesday. Their home form is strong so they will be expecting to win this meeting, and I believe they will do it too. It is from this fixture that my football bet of the day comes from, and it involves Betfred's #PickYourPunt feature.

Football Bet of the Day: Tuesday, May 28

  • #PickYourPunt - Malmo half-time/full-time, Erik Botheim to score & over 3.5 goals @ 4/1

We are into matchday 12 of the Allsvenskan season and Malmo have won nine of their 11 clashes so far, losing just the once, to Tuesday's visitors. It certainly felt like an anomaly that result, but credit must be given to Elfsborg for blunting the reigning champions.

I imagine that this time will be very different, particularly given Malmo's form at the Eleda. They have won all five of their league fixtures their so far, scoring 24 goals in the process. All of those wins were to nil as well, so they are yet to concede a goal on home turf.

Elfsborg could break that trend given how they stumped Malmo at their place a month ago, but I don't think they will be able to pull off another upset, especially in this arena.

The reigning champions find themselves three points clear ahead of Djurgarden at the summit, and they will want to keep the early challengers at a distance, so they cannot afford to be bested by Elfsborg again.

The strength that comes from their home form will come into play here and that is why I am confident they will prevail. The first leg of the bet builder has Malmo half-time/full-time as I think they will come out on top in both halves.

It has landed in three of their five home games so far and in six of their fixtures overall, which is why I have chosen this market. Elfsborg have shown they can get wins this term, with five so far, but they have found consistency an issue. Their last three wins have been broken up by defeats, and I expect them to have no joy facing the league leaders away from home.

The next leg has Malmo's Erik Botheim to score anytime. It was a tough choice because both Botheim and his strike partner, Isaac Kiese Thelin have scored eight goals in the league so far, making them the joint-top scorers in the division.

Botheim was the hat-trick hero on Friday and while Thelin was also on the scoresheet, Botheim will be heading into this clash with more confidence than his teammate. Neither player scored in the reverse fixture against Elfsborg, but I think we will see at least one of them get on the scoresheet here, and I am predicting it will be Botheim.

The final leg is over 3.5 goals. Malmo have been involved in a lot of high-scoring games so far this term and there has been a minimum of four goals in six of their 11 matches so far (55%). Elfsborg have been involved in four matches (36%) with over 3.5 goals, including their win against Malmo in April.

I see no issues with this selection landing here as the hosts are stacked with firepower thanks to their attacking duo, but they have been supported by other players in the team to help share the goal burden. Seeing as Malmo have scored five goals at home in two of their last three matches at the Eleda, I'm expecting another goalfest at this stadium on Tuesday evening.
