Football Bet of the Day: 3/1 shot for Coventry’s youngsters to find win

There are some European fixtures taking place on Tuesday night as Champions League and Europa Conference League qualifiers reach the crunch rounds. However, to find some value on Betfred for our Football Bet of the Day, we’ve taken a look at the youngsters playing in the England Development Professional League earlier in the day. 

I think we’ve really found some value here. Coventry’s U21s will face Millwall’s U21s at 13:00 on home soil, and they’ve made a cracking start to the season. 

Aidan Dausch, a player who got a taste of the first team at the end of last season, scored a brace as they thumped QPR 6-0 in their first league match. That performance was simply exceptional, as Dausch bagged twice to add to his impressive end to the last campaign.

Justin Obikwu, a powerful striker, also looks set to play having impressed in pre-season and spent last term on loan at Grimsby Town. It feels as though another loan to an EFL side would be the best option for him and his club this summer, but as of yet, he remains with the Sky Blues. Arguably he is at that stage now where he is too good for academy football, and needs a club to take a chance on him to get regular football this season.

Right now, he remains an asset for Coventry’s U21s, while the summer signing Kai Yearn has also impressed. He scored a brace against QPR and should also feature here, along with Elliot Betjemann. All in all, this looks to be a very exciting young squad that is full of goals. 

Their opponents are Millwall on Tuesday afternoon, and I just don’t think they have the same quality as the Sky Blues. In fact, Cov beat Burnley 3-2 at the end of last season, as Dausch scored another brace, while Millwall needed a late penalty to rescue a 1-1 draw with the Clarets in the first game of this season. 

It leads me to believe that Coventry will be able to win this game fairly comfortably, and that there will be plenty of goals. It feels like the 3/1 on offer for Coventry City U21 to win and over 2.5 goals is a great price that is worth taking up for our Football Bet of the Day.
