Football Bet of the Day: A three-legged bet builder from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
On Tuesday the eyes of the Premier League will be on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Spurs entertain Manchester City in game that will have huge repercussions in the race for the Premier League title, as well as the hunt for Champions League football.
Arsenal will be watching with hope that their bitter rivals can do them a massive favour against the Citizens, who are yet to win a league match at Spurs' stadium. I'm expecting a lot of drama from this clash and it is from this fixture my football bet of the day comes.
Football Bet of the Day: Tuesday, May 14
- #PickYourPunt - Foden to score, Kulusevski to commit 1+ fouls and Sarr to be carded @ 13/2
Pep Guardiola's Man City have their eyes on the prize. They are on the cusp of securing their fourth consecutive Premier League title in what would be a division record. To many neutrals, this stage of the season can be quite boring as City are always at their devastating best and look unstoppable.
This is shown by their incredible form of late once again as they have won seven on the bounce and should they win this game in hand with Spurs, they will be in the driving seat to win the league once again.
Arsenal have been in outstanding form in 2024 but they will be ruing their dip in form over the festive period that saw them lose two on the bounce to West Ham United and Fulham. The Gunners will now be hoping City can slip up on Tuesday and remain winless in this part of north London.
However, it will be very difficult for Man City's winless streak to continue in this ground when they are heading there at this time of year, when they tend to be at their most unplayable. With that in mind, my football bet of the day would suggest a difficult evening for Tottenham.
First off, I fancy Phil Foden to score, simply because he has been magnificent this season. Alongside Rodri, he has been the Citizens' star player and his 17 goals and eight assists in the top-flight can attest to that.
The England international heads into this crunch clash having scored three goals in as many outings, so his confidence levels will be high. He scored against Fulham at the weekend which may be the most important factor as he prepares for a game that is crucial in the race for the title. Foden has been a joy to watch this year and his maturity on the football pitch is continuing to develop, and Guardiola will be very proud of the player he has helped him become.
As the two sides played out a gripping 3-3 draw at the Etihad Stadium back in December, Foden was on the scoresheet then, so I believe that he will be able to haunt Spurs for the second time this campaign.
The next two legs of the bet builder surround discipline. I'm expecting Spurs to have a tough night trying to slow down this sky blue train and a strong defensive display is most likely going to be required if they are to emerge with a positive result.
Their Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski is a good option to back to commit a foul because he has committed 52 already this term, the joint-fourth highest in the division. He may be an attacking player but he never shies away from tracking back and getting stuck into defensive work, and he is no stranger to showing aggression in the challenge.
The final leg is Pape Sarr to be carded. The midfield battle in this game is going to be huge and with the two sides lined up, City's is far superior on paper and I'm expecting the hosts to do a lot of ball chasing.
Sarr has been carded eight times already this season, including his last outing against Burnley at the weekend. His partner Yves Bissouma has been ruled out for this match and so there is going to be much more ground for him to cover against the reigning champions. That is why I think he's a good option to back for a yellow card in this contest.
Betfred are running their famed Double Delight & Hat-trick Heaven offer on this match, meaning that if a player scores first and then nets again, you will be paid at double the odds. If he grabs a hat-trick, you will be paid at treble the odds!
