The fourth round of the FA Cup kicks off on Thursday evening (19:45) as AFC Bournemouth entertain Swansea City at the Vitality Stadium.

Both these teams head into this cup tie off the back of defeats. The hosts were thrashed 4-0 by Liverpool in the Premier League at the weekend, while Swansea were beaten 3-1 by Southampton in the Championship.

This will only be the second meeting between them in the FA Cup, with the Cherries winning the last encounter 2-0 in the first round during the 2000-01 campaign. And we fancy history to repeat itself on the south coast.

Football Bet of the Day - Thursday 25 January

  • Bournemouth and both teams to score @ 7/4

Bournemouth and both teams to score feels like excellent value at 7/4. Not just because they triumphed over the Swans in their only other meeting in this competition but because of the quality they have in their squad, and the gulf in class between the Premier League and the Championship.

The Cherries have experienced a setback in recent weeks as they saw their winning run of three games in the top-flight ended with a defeat at Tottenham Hotspur, followed by the home drubbing to Liverpool.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola will see this clash with the Swans as an excellent opportunity to reinstall some confidence back into his side, even though he is likely to make several changes to his lineup.

Star player Dominic Solanke, who has scored 13 goals in all competitions this year, is likely to be rested which would hand a rare opportunity for Kieffer Moore to lead the line. The Wales international's future in Dorset is still uncertain as a host of Championship sides chase his signature before the January transfer window closes.

Unlike most of his Cherries team mates, there is an added incentive for Moore in this cup tie. As a former Cardiff City man, he will be eager to do his old club a favour and help dump their biggest rivals out of the cup.

Other players who could start on Thursday that also know where the back of the net is include Philip Billing, David Brooks and Luis Sinisterra. There would be more than enough quality in Iraola's alternative attacking lineup to get Bournemouth through to the fifth round.

However, the Swans will bring their own threat. Luke Williams is still getting his feet under the table in south Wales but his possession-based style can cause problems for Bournemouth's second-string XI. And with the Cherries' confidence taking a hit on home soil last weekend, Swansea will sense their vulnerability.

We still feel that the hosts will have enough quality to get through to the next round, especially with the potential options they could call on from the bench, but we do fancy the Swans to get in on the action at the Vitality.
