Club football is back this weekend and we’ve got a whole host of action to get stuck into on Sunday. There’s Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United debut at Ipswich to look forward to, as well as Liverpool’s trip to Southampton and plenty of action from the continent too.

But our focus for Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day comes from the Championship as title favourites Leeds United head to South Wales to take on Swansea City. Read on to find out more.

Football Bet of the Day - Sunday, November 24

  • Leeds United to beat Swansea City to nil @ 9/5

Daniel Farke’s men travel to South Wales on Sunday afternoon (15:00, Sky Sports Football), looking to get themselves into the top two over the festive period. A win here would put the pressure on leaders Sunderland and a Sheffield United outfit who are in fine fettle, but the Whites remain the favourites to lift the trophy in May.

They may be without Largie Ramazani, Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev due to injury but the likes of Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell have stepped up to the plate with some seriously impressive performances. I think Leeds are in pole position not just to win this weekend, but to win the league in style. They just have so many options, with Manor Solomon and Patrick Bamford not seeing much game time this term due to the quality of the competition in attacking areas.

They head to Swansea having won four of their last six games, but all four of those games have come at Elland Road. In fact, they haven’t scored in their last two away games, following up a 0-0 stalemate at Bristol City with a 1-0 loss to Millwall. However, I’m not too concerned by that mini-blip on the road from a Leeds standpoint.

They always lose at the Den and Bristol City have only lost one of their last 10 matches, so a point there is a decent result. On Sunday, they can get back to winning ways and show their class against a Swansea side who are lacking quality in front of goal. They have only scored 11 goals in their 15 league matches so far, which makes them the lowest scorers in the entire division. Even basement boys QPR have hit the net 12 times this season, while Portsmouth remain in the relegation zone having scored 16.

It’s a massive problem for Luke Williams to solve, but I’m not sure he has the individual quality up front to turn this Swansea team into a free-scoring one. I’m a massive fan of the former Notts County manager but Zan Vipotnik and Liam Cullen don’t feel like elite strikers at this level and although a takeover is in the works, Swans have never been the type of club to spend big in the transfer window.

Up against a Leeds defence that has only conceded nine goals this term, with Joe Rodon and Pascal Strujik two of the best centre-backs in the league and Illan Meslier behind them, I cannot see the home side troubling Leeds too much on Sunday. I’m confident that the away side will be able to secure another clean sheet on their way to an all-important three points.

Farke needs a solid result here to get his title charge underway. Winning games at Elland Road is so easy for this outfit right now, but their form on the road has to pick up if they are going to win this league. 9/5 on Leeds to win to nil is my Football Bet of the Day for Sunday, November 24.
