Football Bet of the Day: Watkins and Son to score in high-scoring affair

There is a huge clash in the race for the top four in the Premier League this Sunday (KO 13:00) as Aston Villa take on Tottenham Hotspur at Villa Park,

Five points separate the two teams heading into this one. Villa are fourth on 55 while Spurs are on 50. The London outfit do have a game in hand on the Villans, however, which means Sunday's clash is huge for both clubs. As such, this is where our bet of the day comes from.

Football Bet of the Day: Sunday 10 March

  • #PickYourPunt: Ollie Watkins and Son Heung-min to score anytime, over 3.5 goals @ 9/2

In terms of what's at stake, this clash in Birmingham is one of the biggest on offer in the final weeks of the season. Unai Emery deliberately rested some key players in midweek as his side played out a 0-0 draw at Ajax in the first leg of their Europa Conference League round of 16 tie.

It showed that the Spaniard is prioritising a top-four finish to secure Champions League football for next season. Why wouldn't they? The revenue stream that would generate for the club would be huge, as well as improving their pulling power for players. They know that a win against Spurs would take them a huge step closer to that dream.

On the opposing side, Spurs have ground to make up and will be fired up for the final run-in. This should spark an excellent contest in the West Midlands and this is is why we have gone for an exciting bet builder for the bet of the day.

In tipping Ollie Watkins to score, there is no greater goal threat in Villa's team than the England international. His figures this season have been outstanding in the top-flight. The forward has scored 16 goals and provided 10 assists, playing a pivotal role in Villa's surprising top-four push.

He has scored seven in as many matches for his team in the league and there aren't many players in the Premier League enjoying as much form as him. On home soil, and in a game that has high stakes, we expect him to deliver the goods once again.

At the other end, we fancy Tottenham skipper Son Heung-min to get on the scoresheet. He himself has netted 13 times in the Premier League and following Harry Kane's departure in the summer, he has become the main man for Spurs.

The South Korea international boasts an impressive record against Villa, too. In eight matches against them, Son has scored on six occasions. With his side looking to him for inspiration in a game of such magnitude, we expect the attacker to play his part in what should be a thriller at Villa Park.

The last leg sees us tip over 3.5 goals and with both sides boasting a lot of quality in their ranks, there should be plenty of goal-mouth action on Sunday. Alongside Watkins, Leon Bailey, Douglas Luiz and John McGinn have regularly chipped in with goals this year.

The same goes for Spurs as James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, Pape Sarr and Dejan Kulusevski have all scored proficiently this term. With that in mind, and the context of the match itself, we could be treated to an end-to-end thriller in B6 on Sunday afternoon.
