We’ve got so much football to choose from on Saturday afternoon but we’ve plumped for the early kick-off, and the biggest game of the weekend for our Football Bet of the Day. Manchester City host Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium, with kick-off at 12:30. We’ve picked out our best bet for this one.

Football Bet of the Day - Saturday 25th November

  • Manchester City vs Liverpool: Over 4.5 goals @ 11/4

Its first vs second in the Premier League this weekend as two of the title challengers collide. City have scored more goals than any other side in the division so far, hitting 32 in their 12 matches so far. Meanwhile, Liverpool have also been lethal in front of goal, notching 27, the third-highest total so far.

Mo Salah has enjoyed a wonderful start to the season, with ten league goals to his name. It isn’t that long ago that criticism was thrown Liverpool’s way for rejecting the £150m bid on deadline day from Saudi Arabia, but the Egyptian has been worth his weight in gold to the Reds this term.

The same can be said of Erling Haaland, who wasn’t going anywhere after the treble winning season. He’s also enjoyed a hot start to the season with 13 league goals already, and will fancy his chances in another big game, having scored twice in the Manchester derby. He missed Norway’s last match but the signs are that was just a precautionary measure and he should be back fit and firing to tear Liverpool apart.

With the top two goalscorers in the league going head-to-head, we can expect a game full of goals on Saturday lunchtime. Nine out of the last 11 meetings in all competitions have seen at least four goals while six of the last eight Premier League clashes between this pair have had four goals or more.

The recent history between Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola points to a goal-fest and given this game is tough to call in terms of nailing a result, I’m happy to simply back goals this weekend. This encounter, with all the talent on show, is a must-watch affair. With the prices as they are, I’m happy to plump for either over 3.5 goals at 6/5, or push the boat out a bit and go for over 4.5 goals at 11/4.
