The Premier League returns this weekend with a crunch clash at the bottom as Luton Town host Sheffield United at Kenilworth Road.

The Hatters have enjoyed an upturn in form of late and are unbeaten in their last three league matches, taking themselves outside of the bottom three. Meanwhile Sheffield United are rooted to the bottom of the table with a staggering goal difference of -40. Below we have come up with our Football Bet of the Day which comes from this Premier League encounter.

Football Bet of the Day - Saturday 10 February 2024

  • Luton to win and over 3.5 goals @ 7/2

Luton’s good run of form actually extends further back than you might think. They overcame Bolton after two FA Cup matches, and then beat Everton away from home to put themselves into the hat for round five. That means in all competitions they are unbeaten in six matches, and they haven’t yet tasted defeat in 2024.

Rob Edwards is in with a shout of winning PFA Manager of the Year if he keeps Luton up, as they were written off before a ball was even kicked. They hadn’t spent enough money and their squad simply wasn’t ready for the Premier League according to critics, yet they are doing a damn good job of being competitive in every single match they play.

Only Brighton, Brentford and Aston Villa have beaten Luton by more than one goal this season. More importantly for this match however, the Hatters are on fire in front of goals, scoring eight goals across their last two matches. The FA Cup seems to have got them back on track and having battered Brighton 4-0 and scored four at Newcastle, they will head into this one high on confidence.

Meanwhile, Sheffield United are on the opposite end of the spectrum, and the arrival of fan-favourite Chris Wilder doesn’t appear to have improved things. They have failed to win any of their last seven matches, were batted 5-0 at home by Aston Villa last time out and have conceded 15 goals in their last four games.

Simply put, they don’t know how to defend and with Luton’s strikers, in particular, Elijah Adebayo, in top form, it could be along day for the Blades’ leaky defence. Sheffield United have conceded a frankly ridiculous 59 goals in 23 league games so far this season, and they still haven’t passed Derby’s record-low total of 11. It’s been nothing short of a disaster for them so far in the Premier League and they are surely heading back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

For Luton meanwhile, hopes remain high of survival - against the odds. They’ve been helped along by Everton’s ten point deduction but even so, their performances in 2024 deserve huge credit. They will have targeted this game as one to get three points in, and given their attacking credentials, they could well blow Sheffield United away.

Our Football Bet of the Day for Saturday 10 February 2024 is Luton to win and over 3.5 goals @ 7/2.
