Monday’s Football Bet of the Day comes from the Danish Superliga where Odense BK will be hoping to maintain their impressive start to the season when they play host to Viborg.

Odense are yet to taste defeat this term, following up an opening 2-2 draw with Randers by coming from behind to claim an eye-catching 2-1 win at Brondby last time out.

By contrast, Viborg have come out of the blocks slowly for 2023/24, as they opened the campaign with a resounding 4-1 loss at Nordsjaelland before battling back to secure a 2-2 home draw with Lyngby.

Momentum certainly appears to be with Odense ahead of this clash at Nature Energy Park.

  • Odense to beat Viborg @ 23/20

Odense finished last season eighth in the Superliga standings, but they were never in any danger of being relegated despite being in the bottom half of the table when the league split.

Viborg, meanwhile, ended the campaign in fourth, but they narrowly missed out on a place in Europe after losing their Conference League play-off match 1-0 to Midtjylland.

That was a sour way to end what had been an otherwise solid season for Jacob Friis’ side, but that disappointment appears to have spilled into the new campaign following their sluggish start.

OB have had no such issues and they produced an impressive performance to win at Brondby last time out, not only coming from behind, but they sealed their win with a 90th-minute strike from forward Bashkim Kadrii.

Confidence should certainly be high within Andreas Alm’s squad following that success, while they also have a positive recent memory of facing Viborg, as the two teams locked horns in a pre-season friendly less than a month ago.

That match also took place at Nature Energy Park and it ended in a resounding 4-0 victory for Odense.

While it was only a friendly, OB will feel they have struck a psychological blow on their opponents and it should give them an upper hand heading into Monday’s game.

That is not the first time OB have claimed a resounding home success over Viborg, as they were also 5-1 victors when the two teams met in 2016.

Viborg did win on their last league visit to Nature Energy Park last September, but they had to come from behind to do so and the current momentum of the two sides would suggest repeating those heroics may be beyond them.

Former Denmark international Kadrii could also be one to watch in the anytime scorer market, as he netted eight times in the league for OB last season – including against Viborg – while he got off the mark for the current campaign with that late winner against Brondby last weekend.
