Football Bet of the Day: Atalanta to outscore Como

There’s just one Serie A match on Monday, as Atalanta welcome Como to Bergamo at 19:45, and my Football Bet of the Day comes in that very fixture.
Football Bet of the Day - Monday, September 23
- Atalanta to win (vs Como) and both teams to score @ 15/8
It's been mixed fortunes so far for Atalanta, with two wins and two defeats from four games - while they also passed up a glorious chance to take the scalp of Arsenal in their Champions League opener on Thursday.
Como, meanwhile, have two draws and two losses after what has been a tough opening spell. This will be their fourth away game from the opening five.
More misery on the road may be in store, but they are at least capable of getting on the scoresheet.
Atalanta are 4/9 to get the three points when Como visit the Gewiss Stadium on Monday night and the home side should oblige favourite backers, but there is some value instead to be had in siding with Como to get on the scoresheet in what may ultimately be a losing cause.
The hosts' stalemate with Arsenal in Europe was unexpected and could have been avoided had Mateo Retegui taken more care with the rebound after David Raya had pushed back his second-half penalty.
There have been 16 goals in their opening four Serie A games, with over 2.5 goals landing in each of them. Both teams have scored in two of those four matches, while their previous home game brought a see-saw first half with five goals exchanged as they edged Fiorentina 3-2.
Como started the season with a 3-0 loss at Juventus and they have played on the road three times in four so far. They scored at Cagliari in a 1-1 draw and were unfortunate to be hit with a leveller from Bologna in stoppage time in a 2-2 draw last time out.
Atalanta are unbeaten in eight Serie A home matches against Como, though they last met in 2004.
Cesc Fabregas is entitled to feel the opening set of fixtures has been a tough unkind for his side. They have, though, shown enough attacking purpose in recent weeks to believe they can get about an Atalanta rearguard that has managed just one clean sheet in their last five in the league.
Fabregas is set to be without high-profile signing Raphael Varane as well as fellow centre-back Alberto Dossena for this visit to Bergamo.
He may be forced to try and go on the offensive, given how Atalanta are known to set up, and while it may not reward the visitors with any points, they can get on the scoresheet.
They have scored in two of their last three and had 21 goal attempts in the reverse at Udinese in between times.
