Football Bet of the Day: Andorra can give themselves fighting chance of survival

With the international break on the horizon, league action will begin to wind down over the next few days. However, there is an enticing encounter in the Spanish Segunda division on offer on Monday night.

Andorra and Amorebieta occupy the bottom two spots in the Spanish second tier but with 21st placed Andorra just two points from safety, although that gap could increase with Albacete in 18th facing promotion-chasing Elche later on Sunday. Nevertheless, the Tricolours could give themselves a massive boost towards survival with victory.

Amorebieta prop up the division but are only five points behind their Monday night opponents. However, just nine goals and seven points on the road this season does not provide much hope of a positive result for the Blues and they could be on the wrong end of this relegation six-pointer.

  • Andorra FC to win and under 2.5 goals @ 11/5

The reverse fixture in August resulted in a comfortable 3-0 victory for Amorebieta, with goals from Eneko Jauregi, Javi Eraso and Kwasi Sibo giving the Azules their first victory of the season.

A promising start to the season has not brought the success that manager Jandro Castro will have hoped for with his side at least three wins from safety, and a victory on Monday would still see the side from the Basque country at the foot of the table.

Andorra, meanwhile, could be further away from the drop zone had it not been for their abject away form this season, with just eight points taken on the road. Their record at home has been far more promising for Eder Sarabia, with the 21 points claimed at the Estadi Nacional d’Andorra putting them 18th on that metric.

The Tricolours - owned by former Barcelona and Manchester United defender Gerard Pique - have lost just five of their 14 games at home in the league and they were victorious in their last home fixture against Valladolid, who are just one point behind the play-off positions.

With four wins and two draws from their last nine home games, Andorra are turning their Iberian Peninsula base into a fortress at the right time of the season, with important victories over fellow bottom-four rivals Alcorcon and mid-table Huesca - who could be dragged back into the relegation dogfight - during that period.

This is likely to be a tight affair in Andorra La Vella, with recent league fixtures featuring either of these two sides tending to be low scoring. Seven of Andorra’s last eight have seen winners in the under 2.5 goals market, while the same can be said for each of Amorebieta’s last nine, and so another low-scoring encounter should be expected.
