There is a huge clash towards the bottom of the Premier League on Friday night (19:45) as Burnley welcome Luton Town to Turf Moor. Four points separate the two teams heading into this one, with both sides sitting in the relegation zone. Luton have a game in hand over their opponents but a win in this huge six-pointer could be vital in their bid for survival.

The same goes for Burnley, who have been quite underwhelming following their excellent promotion campaign in the Championship last year. The Clarets will be looking to make home advantage count after losing their last two fixtures, but coming up against the determined Hatters will not be straightforward.

And despite Burnley's struggles this season, they have had one player who has been consistently good for them when he has featured and who has been playing his part in trying to keep them in the top-flight.

Football Bet of the Day - Friday 12 January

  • Lyle Foster to score anytime - 15/8

Striker Lyle Foster has been Burnley's best player in the Premier League so far and he has missed a large chunk of it due to a mental health break. The club handled themselves brilliantly, allowing the player to get the help he needed, especially when Foster had been in great form for them.

The South African has four goals in 11 appearances in the league, and has also chipped in with three assists. While Burnley haven't been the most pleasing on the eye this year, Foster's performances have been a glimmer of promise because he has adjusted to the demands of the Premier League brilliantly, while some of his team mates have clearly struggled.

With Burnley in their current predicament, they are heavily reliant on Foster to be the hero and fire them to safety. Of course he cannot do it singlehandedly. And no matter what Erling Haaland has been doing for Manchester City, Foster is not the Norwegian marksman, but he is a good player in his own right.

From watching him closely this season, the 23-year-old has so many good qualities in his play. Finishing comes top, obviously, but his physical play is something to be admired. The way he uses his body to create openings and bring his comrades into play is like that of some of the best centre-forwards in the game.

Luton's defenders are going to be very physical with him in this Friday night clash, but that won't faze him. He will be embracing this latest challenge and raring to go once again. Both Burnley and Luton will know just how important three points here can be come May, and with that added incentive, it should inspire an exciting battle on the pitch, and one, if we're lucky, with several goals.

While there is no guarantee of a goal-fest, we are confident that Foster can get back on the scoresheet for the Clarets. He scored in the defeat to Aston Villa at Villa Park last time out in the league, in what was his first goal since returning to action.

It further highlighted that he is a natural goalscorer, as well as the fact that he is building a decent tally this year in a side which is struggling for goals (Burnley are the second-lowest scorers in the league with 20 in as many games). Foster has contributed 20% of the Clarets' goals this term so his importance to the team and manager Vincent Kompany cannot be overstated.

Regardless what happens to Burnley this year, Foster will come away with a strong reputation and we're sure that their Premier League rivals will be keeping a close eye on his progress this season.

Foster is a difference-maker for the hosts and with him back in the fold, their chances of picking up points in games has increased significantly as goalscorers are worth their weight in gold.

And against a Luton side which has conceded 37 goals already this term, 15/8 looks too good to ignore.

Lyle Foster to score anytime at 15/8
