Belgium will look to bounce back from their opening game defeat to Slovakia when they take on surprise package Romania on Saturday night (20:00, ITV1). This is set to be a sizzler in Group E as Domenico Tedesco’s side are in real danger of failing to get out of the group if they don’t win this game in Cologne.

Romania meanwhile, thumped Ukraine 3-0 and now have their eyes set on top spot in this group. If they can beat Belgium they will secure a place in the knockout stages of a European Championship for the first time since 2000. Below you can find my Belgium vs Romania Bet Builder Tips.

Belgium vs Romania Odds

Belgium to win

Now it may seem slightly odd to back a team that has just lost to beat a team that is coming off the back of a 3-0 win, but I just believe Belgium’s quality will shine through. I also think they were extremely unlucky to lose against Slovakia, and the stats back that up. They created several massive chances, resulting in an xG of 1.83, which is the same number that Spain created as they beat Croatia 3-0. It’s simply about taking those chances.

Romelu Lukaku had a day to forget as he squandered a couple of big opportunities and had two goals ruled out for offside, but I think he and Belgium will bounce back here. They did a lot right against Slovakia and just seemingly just had one of those days. While Romania were incredibly impressive in their win over Ukraine, I think Belgium’s individual quality should shine through on this occasion. They have to win, and I think they will.

BTTS

Romania impressed me with their attacking quality against Ukraine, and I don’t think Belgium are that solid defensively. Jan Vertonghen is set to come back into the XI, but he is now 38 and unlikely to sort things out for them at the back. They also were not really tested or put under pressure by Slovakia, but still conceded and lost the game. I think this match should see both teams get on the scoresheet, given the attacking quality on show.

Romelu Lukaku to score

I’ve already mentioned Lukaku, but I think he is the man to find the net in this one. He finished two chances really well against Slovakia, but unfortunately both were ruled out for marginal offsides. He also missed a sitter, but the important thing is that he is getting these chances in front of goal. Let’s not forget that he has 85 goals to his name for Belgium, and the manager trusts him implicitly. He will score a decent number of goals at this tournament, starting with one or two against Romania.

Belgium over 1.5 corners in first 10 minutes

Here’s a different shout to boost our odds massively. Belgium only managed to get five corners against Slovakia, but in the warm-up game prior to that they had 11 against Luxembourg. I’m expecting them to start this game with real intent and anger, after their poor result against Slovakia, so expect balls to come into the box and shots to be fired off early on.

As a result of this belief, I think backing Belgium to have two corners in the first ten minutes could be the way to go. They’ve got a big centre-forward they can utilise, and I like this angle to take our Bet Builder up to 22/1.
