Newcastle Jets vs Melbourne City Prediction: 6/4 & 5/6 picks to land for fourth consecutive H2H

Newcastle Jets produced the shock result of the round last weekend in the Australian A-League Men’s, beating last season’s Premier’s Plate winners, Auckland FC, 2-1 at their Go Media Stadium in New Zealand. Mark Milligan’s side are back home at McDonald Jones Stadium this Saturday (06:00 GMT, TNT Sports 3) to take on another reigning champion, 2025/26 Grand Final winners Melbourne City, who were held to a 0-0 draw at Central Coast Mariners last Saturday.
Below are my Newcastle Jets vs Melbourne City predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Kota Mizunuma, Oscar Fryer, Noah James, Ben van Dorssen, Alex Nassiep, Christian Bracco and Richard Nkomo (all unspecified) are unavailable for Newcastle Jets, but Aleksandar Susnjar and Lucas Scicluna could both return to action on Saturday.
Mathew Leckie (hamstring), Alessandro Lopane (ankle), James Nieuwenhuizen (ACL) and Lawrence Wong (MCL) all miss out for Melbourne City due to injury, while Andrew Nabbout is sidelined with a concussion.
Elbasan Rashani and Nathaniel Atkinson, though, have both recovered from hamstring injuries to be named in Aurelio Vidmar's extended squad for this weekend's trip to Newcastle.

Newcastle Jets vs Melbourne City Odds
Despite last weekend’s results and the fact that they won the last head-to-head 1-0 at AAMI Park in March, Newcastle Jets are underdogs on Saturday, with odds of 23/10 implying a 30.3% probability of success. Melbourne City, meanwhile, are 19/20, or a 51.3% chance, to return to winning ways, while the draw is available at 5/2.
Newcastle Jets vs Melbourne City Stats
- BTTS-No has landed in the last four H2Hs
- Four of MCY's six ALM games this term have produced a BTTS-No winner
- The last three H2Hs have produced 40 or more booking pts
Both Teams To Score - No @ 6/4
One or both teams have failed to score in the last four head-to-heads between the Jets and City.
In the 2023/24 season, City won 2-0 at McDonald Jones Stadium in December 2023 before being held to a goalless draw at AAMI Park in March 2024.
In October of the same year, City won again in Newcastle, triumphing 1-0 on that occasion, before falling to a 1-0 defeat at home in March 2025.
I'm not just going by history when I back BTTS-No to come in again this Saturday, either.
The selection has been a winner in four of City's six ALM games this season, including two of their three away from home, against Brisbane Roar and Central Coast Mariners, both of which finished goalless. Three of their five AFC Champions League Elite matches have also seen one side fail to get on the scoresheet.
The Jets have been involved in much more chaotic contests, with only one of their six league games - their 3-0 defeat to Brisbane Roar on November 9 - seeing a team fail to score.
Last week's win at Auckland was seriously impressive, ending a three-game losing run, but can they back it up at home on Saturday?
City conceded the fewest goals in the regular 2024/25 ALM season (25) and have only been breached five times in six games this term, keeping four clean sheets, while they've stopped the Jets from scoring in three of the last four head-to-heads, although their opponents this weekend have recorded a couple of shutouts against them in that period, too.
All in all, I think there's value to be had in this 6/4 bet.

Booking Points Over/Under +37.5 - Over 37.5 @ 5/6
There's been no love lost between these two teams over the last three head-to-heads, which have all finished with at least 40 booking points awarded.
In the goalless draw at AAMI Park last year, both sides received three yellows, amounting to 30 booking points each, and 60 combined.
Later in 2024, during City's win at McDonald Jones Stadium, 105 booking points were recorded, with the hosts accounting for 30 (three yellows), and the visitors 75 (five yellows, one red).
More recently, in March of this year, City picked up 30 booking points (three yellows) in their defeat to the Jets, who were handed 10 (one yellow) at AAMI Park.
Half of the Jets' six league games this season have seen 40+ booking points awarded, while four of City's have gone that way.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
