Melbourne City vs Perth Glory Prediction: Caputo on target at AAMI Park

Melbourne City and Perth Glory both began their 2025/26 Australian A-League Men's seasons with draws last weekend, away to Western Sydney Wanderers (1-1) and at home to Wellington Phoenix (2-2), respectively.
I went two-for-two with my Perth Glory-Wellington Phoenix tips, backing 1/1 and 15/8 winners, and picked out a 5/1 winner in my WSW-Melbourne City tips, so here's hoping for more success in my Melbourne City vs Perth Glory predictions, which are accompanied by team news and match odds.

Team News
Melbourne City beat Buriram United 2-1 in the league phase of the AFC Champions League on Tuesday, but defenders Samuel Souprayen (hamstring) and Harrison Shillington (concussion), who made up 50% of the back four in midweek, are now out of Saturday's game against Perth Glory.
More positively, four academy graduates, Ben Mazzeo, Jayden Necovski, Peter Antoniou and Besian Kutleshi, have been promoted to Aurelio Vidmar's extended 20-player squad.
Andrew Nabbout, James Nieuwenhuizen (both ACL), Lawrene Wong (MCL), Alessandro Lopane (ankle) and Medin Memeti (hamstring) are all still in the City treatment room, however.
Perth Glory, meanwhile, are missing goalkeepers Mark Birighitti and Cameron Cook (both knee), as well as Sam Sutton (knee), Zach Lisolajski (hamstring), Joel Anasmo (Achilles), Nicholas Pennington (soreness) and Luke Amos (unspecified).
Tom Lawrence is also still not being considered for selection as he builds his fitness up, but Callum Timmins, who was absent last weekend, has been named in David Zdrilic's extended squad.

To Win to Nil - Melbourne City @ 8/5
Glory scored twice last weekend, but that was at home to the Nix, who only finished two places and seven points above the wooden spooners last season.
City finished as runners-up to 2024/25 champions Auckland FC, ending the campaign 31 points better off than Glory, who lost both head-to-heads without scoring.
In fact, City have won the last three ALM meetings without conceding, blitzing Glory 8-0 at AAMI Park in April 2024 and 5-0 at HBF Park in November of the same year, before securing a 1-0 success back in Melbourne in February.
Glory are still missing several key players, particularly in attack, so backing a home win to nil looks like the smart play here.

Anytime Goalscorer - Max Caputo (MCI) @ 23/20
City striker Max Caputo has scored in his last three games for club and country, bagging a brace in Australia U20s' 3-1 victory over Cuba in the Fifa U20 World Cup on October 5 before netting in back-to-back games for his club, the 1-1 draw with WSW last Saturday and the 2-1 win against Buriram three days later.
The 20-year-old, who notched five times in 15 ALM appearances last season, has one goal in four games against Glory, netting City's first in a 5-4 (aet) Australia Cup defeat in August 2024.
