Macarthur vs Western Sydney Wanderers Prediction: Talbot card looks tasty

Western Sydney Wanderers were dealt a tough start to the 2025/26 Australia A-League Men’s campaign, facing last season’s top two, Auckland FC and Melbourne City, in their opening couple of games. After taking just a point from those two contests (D1, L1), Alen Stajcic will hope Saturday’s trip to Macarthur FC (08:35 GMT, TNT Sports 2) proves more fruitful.
Below are my Macarthur vs Western Sydney Wanderers predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds, ahead of this meeting at Campbelltown Stadium in Sydney.

Macarthur vs Western Sydney Wanderers Odds
After losing 2-1 at Brisbane Roar on the opening weekend, Macarthur got off the mark with a victory by the same scoreline at home to Adelaide United on Monday. The Bulls are 6/4 to claim back-to-back wins, implying a 40% probability of success, while the Wanderers are 11/8 (42.1%) to notch a third straight success in this fixture, having beaten Sterjovski’s side 2-1 at CommBank Stadium in February and 3-1 at Campbelltown Stadium in May.
The last draw between the two teams came in April 2023, but you can back that run to come to an end on Saturday at 5/2 - while both teams to score for an eighth meeting on the run is priced at 4/9.
Macarthur vs Western Sydney Wanderers Stats

Player to Receive a Card - Callum Talbot (MAC) @ 3/1
Macarthur right-back Callum Talbot only made his league debut for the Bulls in Monday's victory over Adelaide United, but he had already been shown one yellow card and one red for the side he joined in the off-season from Melbourne City.
The 24-year-old was sent off on his continental debut for the club in their 2-1 defeat to Tai Po in Hong Kong on September 18, and after sitting out their next AFC Champions League 2 game, a 3-0 victory over Beijing Guoan on October 2, he was handed a yellow in their third group match, a 1-1 draw with Cong An Ha Noi in Vietnam on October 23.
Talbot was shown 14 yellows in 74 ALM appearances across three seasons for Melbourne City, averaging a caution every 5.28 games, and one of his bookings in 2024/25 came against this weekend's opponents, the Wanderers.
He only came on in the 78th minute of City's 2-2 draw at CommBank Stadium in April, but was booked in the second minute of added time for a foul on Wanderers left-back Alex Gersbach. Earlier in the campaign, in a 2-0 home defeat to WSW, he was whistled for upending their left-winger, Bozhidar Kraev, in the 29th minute, before giving a penalty away in the 43rd minute for a foul on another winger, Nicolas Milanovic, who is now in the Scottish Premiership with Aberdeen.
Both Gersbach and Kraev started on the left for Wanderers in their 1-0 defeat at Auckland last weekend, and the duo could pose more problems here for Talbot, who committed one foul against Adelaide United on Monday.

Total Goals - Over 3.5 @ 11/8
This has been a winning selection in nine of the last 11 ALM meetings between these sides, including the last four at Campbell Town Stadium.
The two teams met three times last season, with all three games taking place this calendar year. The first of those, on New Year's Day, saw five goals scored as Macarthur ran out 3-2 winners at CommBank Stadium, where the Wanderers got their revenge six weeks later, triumphing 2-1 on February 16. Then, at Campbelltown Stadium on May 3, the Wanderers secured a 3-1 victory.
With the likes of Harrison Sawyer and Ji Dong-won in the home side's ranks, and Kosta Barbarouses and Brandon Borrello in the visitors', I'm confident we will witness another goalfest on Saturday.
