Tuesday evening sees Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid side take on an in-form Getafe outfit, with victory in this 20.30 kick-off of vital importance to keep up with La Liga pacesetters Real Madrid and Girona.

Atletico Madrid vs Getafe Betting Tips

  • Atletico Madrid to win and under 2.5 goals @ 2/1
  • Antoine Griezmann last goalscorer @ 18/5

Team News

Atletico have no new injury concerns, with Thomas Lemar, Pablo Barrios and long-term absentee Vitolo the only players occupying the treatment room.

What will be of concern to Simeone is their indifferent form going into this fixture, having lost two of their last three league games.

It may be the case that even further reliance will be placed on the shoulders of Antoine Griezmann, who once again leads the goal-scoring charts for Atleti with 11 goal contributions.

Both Mauro Arambarri and Enes Unal remain out for Jose Bordalas and Getafe, with the pair recovering from respective cruciate ligament injuries.

Los Azulones have steadily climbed up the table in recent weeks, with 10 points accrued from a possible 15 in their last five matches.

Expect the pivotal striking cogs of Borja Mayoral and Mason Greenwood to keep their starting places, as the two have scored six of Getafe’s last seven goals.

Match Odds

The home side are favourites to come away with all three points at 4/11, whilst Getafe to continue their impressive form with a win can be backed at 8/1.

A draw at the Metropolitano Stadium is 18/5, with a correct scoreline of 2-0 to Atleti in what could be a tight affair priced at 5/1.

Atletico Madrid to win and under 2.5 goals @ 2/1

Despite looking vulnerable on the road, Atletico have been pitch-perfect at home with victories in all eight of their league games at the Metropolitano this season.

In fact Simeone’s side have been invincible at home for some time, with their last defeat in front of their fans coming almost a year ago in early January 2023; a singular Ousmane Dembele goal giving Barcelona all three points.

Getafe may have only lost one of their last 15 games in all competitions, but they have a historically poor record against Atleti, with their last victory coming back in 2010.

Whilst Mayoral and Greenwood are in fine firing form, if either has a bad day at the office, then this could be a difficult 90 minutes for the away side. The hosts should have enough in their Arsenal to see out a victory.

Where Getafe have relied on a couple of talents to fire them up the table, the goals have been shared around the squad for Atleti in recent weeks.

Talismanic forward Griezmann, who has also operated as a central midfielder this season, is the only Atletico player to score more than once in the past five games.

The Frenchman has a tally of nine so far this season, with six of his last seven goals being scored in the second half of games. There is nothing Griezmann loves more than a tired defence and, with the hosts likely to dominate possession, expect chances to fall his way in the final 45.
