Atletico Madrid have the second-best home record in La Liga and can grab a 16th victory at home to Celta Vigo on Sunday (15:15). Los Colchoneros are yet to confirm their top-four place but only because their away form has been so woeful. They have been miserable on the road, losing eight times, one fewer occasion than visitors Celta Vigo, who look to have done enough to avoid relegation.

Celta played good football under Rafael Benitez but with limited success and his replacement, Claudio Giraldez, who spent time in the Atleti B team, has guided them to three wins and a draw in his six games in charge. However, after winning at Sevilla, they have lost to Real Betis and Alaves and could be on the wrong end of the result again at the Metropolitano.

  • Antoine Griezmann anytime goalscorer @ 23/20

Team News

Atletico are boosted by the return of Antoine Griezmann from suspension but Thomas Lemar and Marcos Paulo are long-term absentees, while Nahuel Molia is out with a muscular problem.

Memphis Depay is back, as is Rodrigo De Paul, following an unspecified absence.

Celta's Joseph Aidoo (Achilles) is a long-term absentee, while Tasos Douvakis is pushing for a start after scoring the winner in last Sunday's 3-2 win over Villarreal.

Atletico Madrid vs Celta Vigo Odds

Atleti are inevitably strong favourites to win the match at 2/5, with the draw 18/5 and a first ever victory for Celta at the Metropolitano available at 13/2.

Los Colchoneros won October's reverse fixture 3-0 and are 9/1 to repeat that scoreline, while there has been a red card in the pair's last two meetings and over 42.5 booking points (10 for a yellow, 25 for a red) is 5/4.

Celta's win over Villarreal means they start the weekend with an eight-point lead over 18th-placed Cadiz and while not mathematically safe, they are still to face second-bottom Granada and may already have enough for survival.

A fourth away victory of the season looks unlikely but Giraldez's men might get a goal against an Atleti side who kept their first clean sheet since February in last Sunday's 1-0 win at Mallorca.

Diego Simeone's side are far more entertaining to watch than they used to be and while they should take all three points, a second successive shutout may prove problematic.

Griezmann's return after missing out at Son Moix will send shivers down the Celta defenders' spines after the Frenchman scored a hat-trick in his team's win at Balaidos in September.

The 33-year-old has 13 La Liga goals for the season and netted twice in last month's 3-1 home win over Girona.

He has missed out in his three appearances since but his last four goals in all competitions have come at the Metropolitano and he could match colleague Alvaro Morata's 14 strikes for the campaign.
