Aston Villa have one foot in the quarter-finals of the Champions League but they will look to get the job done back at Villa Park (20:00, TNT Sports 1). They currently hold a 3-1 advantage over Club Brugge and Unai Emery is one of best managers around when it comes to progressing in Europe.

We’ve taken a look at this fixture and come up with some Aston Villa vs Club Brugge Bet Builder Tips. Check them out below.

Aston Villa vs Club Brugge Betting Tips

BTTS

Let’s start by backing both teams to score, just as they did in the first leg. Aston Villa have so much attacking ability in the form of Ollie Watkins, Marco Asensio, Morgan Rogers and Marcus Rashford. Emery’s men have scored in each of their last eight games in all competitions, and both teams have scored in six of those eight fixtures.

Despite their attacking quality it still feels as though the defence can be got at, and I feel Club Brugge will come out all guns blazing here. They have to score twice to even stand a chance of progressing here so there is absolutely no way they are going to sit back and let Villa dominate them.

Football Odds

  • BTTS has come in during the last seven Club Brugge fixtures
  • BTTS has landed in six of the last eight Aston Villa games

Meanwhile, BTTS has come in during the last seven Club Brugge fixtures, including at the weekend when they overcame rivals Cercle Brugge 3-1 away from home. I think there will be more goals in this one, with the tie stil in the balance if the away side score first.

Ollie Watkins to score

Watkins is still Aston Villa’s main goal threat and I’d like to back him to find the net in this one. He didn’t score in the away game as Asensio converted the late penalty-kick but he did score the only goal of the game as Villa beat Brentford at the weekend.

  • Ollie Watkins has scored 14 goals in all competitions this season
  • He is Aston Villa's top goalscorer

Now with 13 goals in 29 Premier League games, he will want to show that he can get decent numbers in Europe, as he only has one goal in nine in the UCL so far. He is still Villa’s main man and he is averaging 1.48 shots on targets per game this season, so I think sooner rather than later he will get amongst the goals in the Champions League.

Under 7.5 corners

This is a selection to boost our odds, and although I usually steer clear of corners, I think there is good value on offer here. In the first leg, Club Brugge managed three corners while Villa only had one, meaning there was a severe lack of action in those areas.

  • There were just four corners in the first leg

Although I think there will be a decent amount of intent on show at Villa Park, the home side may find themselves trying to slow the game down at various points as they look to hold onto their two-goal advantage. Villa’s matches have averaged over 10 corners in the Premier League, but this is a very different prospect so I think it is worth adding to our Bet Builder. I’ve gone for under 7.5 corners to give us a bit of leeway for this second leg.
