Aston Villa suffered a damaging blow on Thursday night as they were beaten again by Olympiacos, and knocked out of the Europa Conference League. The dream of a European trophy has passed them by this term, but they can still make this season to remember by finishing in the top four, and booking their place in next season’s Champions League.

It has been a remarkable season for Unai Emery, who has worked wonders since joining the club. On Monday night, the Villans host Liverpool, as Jurgen Klopp takes charge of his final away game in the Premier League. Below you can find my Aston Villa vs Liverpool Bet Builder Tips.

Aston Villa to win

Right, have I lost my mind here or is this just exceptional value? For some reason that I can’t explain, Villa are priced at 16/5 to win this game, in comparison to 7/10 for Liverpool. I understand that they’ve had a tough trip to Greece to contend with and they now haven’t won in their last four matches, but their home form has been excellent for the entire season.

They’ve won 12 of their 18 league games at Villa Park, while Liverpool have only won nine of their 18 away matches. Ultimately it is that that has cost them the Premier League title as they’ve picked up more points at home than any other side in the league this season.

I can see Liverpool finding life tough again here, especially given that following the weekend’s results, they are likely to be cemented in third. All they’ve got to focus on is giving Klopp a wonderful farewell, while Villa still need two points to mathematically confirm their spot in the top four. I think this will be a special atmosphere, and Villa can get the job done under the lights.

Mohamed Salah and Ollie Watkins to score

I still think there will be goals at both ends in this one. I’m picking out the two top scorers from each team to find the net here, as Salah looks to finish with a flourish. He found the net against Tottenham in the 4-2 win to put his argument with Klopp behind him, and there will be some level of competition between him and Watkins.

The Englishman, who is surely heading to Euro 2024, has scored 19 goals this term in comparison to 18 for Salah. Both of them are now being beaten in the scoring charts by Alexander Isak and Cole Palmer, and although they are not going to catch Golden Boot winner Erling Haaland, they will want to finish as high up in that list as possible. I can see them both adding to their tallies here in what should be an open encounter.

Douglas Luiz to be booked

Let’s back Villa’s midfield destroyer to pick up a card to boost our odds up to 33/1. Douglas Luiz has now picked up 15 cards in all competitions, and 11 in the Premier League - a total only Joao Palhinha can beat domestically. With Liverpool’s vibrant midfield and pacy counter-attack, he is surely going to have to make a tactical foul at some point, and go into the referee’s notebook.
