Aston Villa and Everton will both be looking to bounce back from an opening-day defeat when the sides meet at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon (14.00).

Aston Villa to win to nil

The visit of the Toffees is the perfect opportunity for Unai Emery’s side to get some points on the board against a side they have had success against in recent seasons.

Everton have scored just once in their previous five meetings with Villa, who have won three of those to nil.

It is no secret Sean Dyche’s side are in desperate need of goals and both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and new signing Youssef Chermiti are short of match sharpness so are likely not to feature on Sunday.

Villa won their last seven Premier League home games last season, five of them to nil. With Everton struggling to find the feet in front of goal, I fancy another win to nil here for Unai Emery’s side.

Over 2.5 goals

Villa as of late have had plenty of goals in their games, and there has been over 2.5 goals in five of their last six games including their pre-season tour of America.

Everton, as mentioned, are in desperate need of goals, and have only scored four goals in all of their last five games including pre-season.

Villa will certainly want to bounce back in style here, and that’s why I can see them racking up the scoreline.

Ollie Watkins to score anytime

Watkins ended the season with 15 top-flight goals, after the mid-season appointment of Unai Emery, so I’m expecting the England striker to have a breakout season.

If Villa are to be successful against Everton, as I expect them to be, Watkins will play a big part and I fancy him to get on the scoresheet here.

Emery’s side won 2-0 when the two teams last met in February, and I think they will get off the mark at the second time of asking.
