Meetings between the north London rivals usually live up to the pre-match hype and, with both attacking units in great form, we are expecting plenty of goalmouth action in our 5/1 Bet Builder.

Over 26.5 shots

The summer departure of Tottenham striker Harry Kane came as a relief to Arsenal as the England captain had scored a record 14 goals in the north London derby.

However, the Gunners’ defence can expect a different challenge from a Spurs side who have hit the ground running under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham left it very late to seal a 2-1 home win over Sheffield United last weekend but it was a well-deserved victory as they fired in 28 shots against the Blades.

That tally boosted their average under Postecoglou to 20.2 shots per game and they are unlikely to retreat into their shell at the Emirates.

Whoever starts in goal for Arsenal – David Raya has been preferred to Aaron Ramsdale in their last two games, keeping clean sheets against Everton and PSV – can expect a busy afternoon but the Gunners also pose a serious attacking threat.

They average 15.6 shots per league game and had 18 attempts in Wednesday’s 4-0 Champions League win over PSV so a match total of over 26.5 shots looks a solid Bet Builder selection.

Martin Odegaard to score anytime

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard signed a new five-year contract at the club this week and celebrated by scoring for the third time in his last five appearances with a sweet strike from outside the box in the second half against PSV.

Odegaard scored in the Gunners’ 2-0 win at Tottenham last season, one of his 15 Premier League goals in 2022-23, and he should be backed to find the net on Sunday.

He converted a penalty in the 1-0 win at Crystal Palace, equalised against Manchester United with a clinical finish, and had two shots on target in last weekend’s narrow victory at Everton.

The Gunners skipper is averaging 3.2 shots per Premier League match this season, more than any of his teammates, and he could lead by example against Arsenal’s local rivals.

Over 3.5 total goals

This fixture has produced some high-scoring classics over the years and that trend should continue now that the gung-ho Postecoglou is in charge of Tottenham.

Spurs certainly have the attacking intent and quality to contribute to the goal tally at the Emirates but Arsenal are prolific goalscorers at home, where their last 11 wins in all competitions were by 4-0, 3-1, 2-1, 5-0, 3-1, 4-1, 4-1, 3-2, 4-0, 3-2 and 3-1 scorelines.

They have beaten Tottenham 3-1 in their last two home Premier League derbies and over 3.5 goals, a winning bet in 10 of Arsenal’s last 12 league matches at the Emirates, is well worth including in a Bet Builder for the big game.
