Arsenal vs Bayern Munich Prediction: Home side can destroy Germans

Arsenal’s European adventure continues with a mouth-watering home tie against Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Uefa Champions League (20:00, TNT Sports). The Gunners comfortably beat Brighton 3-0 at the weekend, and now sit top of the Premier League after Liverpool failed to beat Manchester United on Sunday afternoon. 

However, now they must turn their attention to the Champions League as they host a Bayern side who are out of sorts in the Bundesliga. Here is my Arsenal vs Bayern Munich prediction, featuring team news and betting odds.

Team News

Arsenal are flying on and off the pitch at the moment. Their only injury is Jurrien Timber, and he is on his way back from a long-term ACL issue, and should be able to play before the season is out. Mikel Arteta should be delighted with how strong his squad is as we charge into the business end of the season. Declan Rice and Kai Havertz will have to be disciplined here though, as a booking would mean they miss the second leg in Germany. 

Meanwhile, Bayern are at the opposite end of the scale in terms of injuries. Manuel Neuer, Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sane, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Noussair Mazraoui were all absent for the weekend's defeat against Heidenheim, and are back in training, but could miss out here. They join Sacha Boey, Bouna Sarr, Noel Aseko, Tarek Buchmann and Garbriel Marusisic - all long-term absentees - on the treatment table. 

Match Odds

Arsenal are the favourites for this one at 8/11, giving them an implied win percentage of 58%. Meanwhile Bayern are priced at 7/2 and a draw is available at 3/1. BTTS can be backed at 4/6 and over 2.5 goals is 4/6. 

Arsenal to win @ 8/11

This is a fairly simple first selection. Arsenal have been incredible in 2024, winning 13 and drawing one league game, at the Etihad Stadium. They got past Porto on penalties in the last-16, but they seem like one of Europe’s best sides and are firing on all cylinders as they challenge for the Premier League title. 

They are in red-hot form and come up against a Bayern side who can’t seem to get going. They’ve now lost their last two league matches and with a whole host of injuries, are likely to find life tough in the capital. I can’t see anything other than a home win here, which will give the Gunners a lead to defend as they head to Germany for the second leg. 

Pickyourpunt - Arsenal win, over 5.5 home corners and Bukayo Saka to score @ 5/1

As I’ve just explained, I’m pretty certain Arsenal will win this game and they could do it comfortably. There are a lot of alarm bells ringing regarding this Bayern Munich side and Thomas Tuchel doesn’t look like he can get a tune out of them at the moment. With the likes of Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane they are going to pose a threat, but Arsenal should be able to show their superiority in my eyes. 

We can add some value to the home win by backing Bukayo Saka to find the net, and there to be over 5.5 Arsenal corners. Saka scored from the spot against Brighton last time out, is now the number one penalty taker at the club, and he’s scored eight goals in his last nine Premier League matches. He’s also got three in this year’s Champions League and should be able to find the net against a leaky Bayern defence. 

I’ve also added over 5.5 corners to this selection. Arsenal have posted over 5.5 corners in six of their last eight fixtures, registering 10 against Brentford and nine against Newcastle in their recent home matches. The price of 5/1 for this selection is incredibly appealing.
