Reigning world champions Argentina face El Salvador at Lincoln Financial Field, the home of the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles, for an international friendly in the early hours of Saturday morning (00:00).

This match will see the sides face off for the first time since 2015, when Lionel Scaloni's side claimed a 2-0 victory. Here are our Argentina vs El Salvador predictions, featuring team news and match odds on offer for the game.

Argentina vs El Salvador Prediction

  • Argentina -3 @ 11/8
  • Lautaro Martinez to score first @ 5/2

Team News

Argentina are set to be without their talisman Lionel Messi, who has been ruled out with a minor hamstring issue, while Paulo Dybala and Exequiel Palacios are also sidelined with thigh problems.

Valentin Barco, Nicolas Valentini and Valentin Carboni are hoping to win their first caps, while in-form winger Alejandro Garnacho is in contention to start with the absence of Messi and Dybala.

As for El Salvador, Javier Ferman and Nathan Ordaz are both hoping to make their first international appearance, but their squad is relatively inexperienced, with none of the seven defenders selected boasting more than four senior caps.

Match Odds

Argentina are overwhelming favourites at 1/33, implying that they have a 97.1% chance of winning this game, while El Salvador are 40/1, or a 2.4% chance to claim a famous victory.

The draw can be backed at 14/1 while over 3.5 goals is currently priced up at 4/5.

Argentina -3 @ 11/8

As the match odds suggest, I'm expecting a comfortable Argentina victory, with plenty of goals here. The question is, by how many?

La Albiceleste come into this game off the back of creating history in their 1-0 victory over fierce rivals Brazil, becoming the first-ever nation to inflict a home defeat on the Selecao in World Cup qualifying. That triumph came after their 14-game unbeaten streak was ended by Uruguay.

Argentina shouldn't have any issues racking up the scoreline here as El Salvador haven't tasted victory since beating Grenada 2-1 back in June 2022.

Argentina -3 at 11-8

Lautaro Martinez to score first @ 5/2

The Inter Milan striker is enjoying a stellar campaign, and has scored 26 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions so far this term.

He hasn't scored for his country since a 3-0 win over Honduras back in August 2022, and El Salvador have kept two clean sheets in their past 10 outings, so he's almost certain to get chances.

Lautaro Martinez to score first at 5-2 Argentina
