Erling Haaland (Manchester City vs Ipswich Town) @ 4/9

To the surprise of no one, Erling Haaland opened his Premier League account for 2024/25 in the first game, netting against Chelsea last time out. It was an excellent goal as the Norwegian bullied Marc Cucurella to score, who had been singing about how Haaland trembles at him, following his Euro 2024 win with Spain.

What made the afternoon even better was seeing Cucurella down with cramp asking for help and the City striker just walked past him. Anyway, back to the point. City are back on home soil this weekend and are facing newly-promoted Ipswich Town, who lost 2-0 to Liverpool last time out.

I can't imagine City's first home league game of the season without a Haaland goal, and who else is better to tip in the Premier League right now?

Kai Havertz (Aston Villa vs Arsenal) @ 15/8

Maybe this man. Kai Havertz was also on the scoresheet last week, as well as providing an assist, in Arsenal's 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Gunners head to Aston Villa this weekend looking for revenge against Unai Emery's side, as their defeat against them at the Emirates towards the back end of last season put a serious dent in their title hopes.

Havertz has enjoyed a bit of a renaissance in Mikel Arteta's side over the past 12 months, and he is getting involved in a lot of the final third action. Like Haaland, I think he can net for a second successive game.

Chris Wood (Southampton vs Nottingham Forest) @ 7/4

Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood finished last season with 14 goals in the Premier League, having grown into a key player at the City Ground. He is already up and running for the new term, scoring in last week's draw with Bournemouth, and I fancy him to get some more joy when the Tricky Trees head to Southampton on Saturday.

He is going to be full of confidence heading to the south coast and with his towering frame, he can cause the Saints a whole host of problems in the air or on the ground. The New Zealander is aiming to score in the first two matches of a Premier League season for the first time in his career and I fancy him to accomplish that feat this weekend.

Alfie May (Leyton Orient vs Birmingham City) @ 13/10

Last year's League 1 Golden Boot winner and newly-crowned PFA Player of the Year, Alfie May, has enjoyed an excellent start to his Birmingham City career. The former Charlton man has scored twice in his first two league outings for the Blues, with the first being an equaliser from the spot against Reading, and the second being a poacher's finish against Wycombe Wanderers last weekend.

I expect May to get on the scoresheet again this weekend as Birmingham head to Leyton Orient, who are yet to put a single point on the board. The forward has been leading the line excellently in Birmingham's possession-based system, and he has been linking up play well on top of being on hand to convert chances.

He is a natural goalscorer and I think he will grab his third of the campaign on Saturday.
