Middlesbrough (H) to beat Preson (12:30) @ 3/5
Middlesbrough look like serious title contenders in the Championship this season, and they are enjoying a perfect week so far. They will look to make it three wins in seven days as they host Preston, and if they get another maximum, that will be four wins in a row for Kim Hellberg’s charges.
The pressure on league leaders Coventry is mounting, with Ipswich also in fine form, but Boro will welcome a home game here. Preston have lost two on the bounce and Milutin Osmajic is suspended, so I’ll back a home win.
Millwall (H) to beat Charlton (12:30) @ 4/5
A London derby and one that should be played in front of a spectacular atmosphere at the Den. Millwall have proven themselves to be serious play-off contenders this term, and although they lost at Coventry in midweek they can count themselves unfortunate to come away empty-handed.
Charlton beat nine-man Sheffield United at home but then lost to Derby in midweek and I think they will just come up short in this derby. It should be a spicy lunchtime in the capital, but I’ll back the Lions to come out on top.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
MK Dons (H) to beat Shrewsbury (15:00) @ 4/7
MK Dons are attempting to get out of League 2 this term, and they currently sit fifth, two points off that all-important top three. They went to Accrington and won 2-0 last time out to end a run of three without a win, and they will fancy their chances on Saturday as they host a relegation-threatened Shrewsbury Town outfit.
The Shrews are in deep doodoo this term, but they did climb out of the relegation zone by beating a hapless 10-man Newport County team 1-0. That doesn’t give me any belief they can turn things around this season so I’ll back an MK Dons win.
Real Madrid (A) to beat Villarreal (20:00) @ 1/1
Real Madrid are an utterly hilarious football club. Xabi Alonso has gone and now his former international teammate Alvaro Arbeloa has been placed in charge. With all the turmoil at the club you would think that they are in a relegation battle, but no, they sit just one point behind league leaders Barcelona, and they hammered Monaco 6-1 in the Champions League in midweek.
Villarreal are going well in third but they are seven points behind Los Blancos, and I expect that gap to be ten points by the end of Saturday.
Lazio (A) to beat Lecce (19:45) @ 11/10
We finish in Italy where Lecce host Lazio looking to end their horrendous run of form. Lecce sit 18th in Serie A, have lost their last four games on the bounce and are winless in six.
Mid-table Lazio will fancy their chances then even though they were hammered at home by Como last time out.
