Birmingham (H) to beat Leicester @ 7/10
Birmingham have won back-to-back away games which should have lifted their spirits ahead of this clash, as they look to make a charge towards the play-offs. Five points off the play-offs, Birmingham have made some smart additions this window, and have only lost one of their 14 league outings at St Andrew’s so I’m happy to side with them, particularly against this opponent.
Leicester look really poor right now, they’ve parted company with Marti Cifuentes and Andy King’s first game in temporary charge ended with a 2-0 home defeat to Charlton. I don’t see any improvement happening soon for the Foxes, and see another away defeat here, as they slide towards the bottom three.
Norwich (H) to beat Blackburn @ 9/10
Norwich City have turned a corner under Philippe Clement and despite a defeat at the Riverside last time out, are looking seriously strong. Over the last 10 games they have picked up 19 points, putting them fifth in the form table over that time period.
No longer playing like a team in relegation danger, they should fancy adding another three points to their tally as they host a managerless Blackburn side that dragged themselves out of the bottom three with a 1-0 success over Sheffield Wednesday in midweek.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Stoke (A) to beat West Brom @ 9/4
This pick isn’t really to do with Stoke, but I do think they have been massively overpriced despite not winning in their last four outings in the league. Mark Robins is a top manager with plenty of experience, and the Potters will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing WBA right now.
The Baggies have dropped into the bottom three, and the hire of new manager Eric Ramsay looks to be backfiring already. They were hammered 3-0 at relegation rivals Portsmouth last time out and they only managed one shot on target, while the reaction from the fans at full-time was negative to say the very least. This is a club in massive trouble, and they look to be getting worse. 12 goals conceded in their last four spells trouble for a team that are winless in six. I’m not sure why they are favourites for this one.
Huddersfield (H) to beat Blackpool @ 3/5
Huddersfield Town have looked strong since the arrival of Liam Manning, winning his first three games. Cameron Humphries scored late at Peterborough to secure a 3-2 win at London Road which means they now sit sixth, with a six-point gap between themselves and Luton.
10 points behind the automatic places, it looks as though the top two are out of reach right now, but if they keep winning that gap could cloe quickly. Blackpool should be beatable opponents on Saturday, given they have lost six of their last seven games in all competitions.
Stockport (H) to beat Leyton Orient @ 4/6
Stockport County sit fourth and are just six points behind the top two, having won four of the last five games. They are one of the best teams in the third tier, and should be able to push on for promotion, as they look to hunt down Lincoln in second.
Dave Challinor is a fantastic manager and I’m happy to back them to get the three points here, with Leyton Orient just a point above the drop zone having lost their last three games on the bounce.
