Burton vs West Ham @ 8/15
Let’s start in the FA Cup with a lunchtime clash, as Burton Albion host Premier League strugglers West Ham United. Unfortunately for the Brewers, I don’t think there is too much chance of an upset given they sit in the League 1 relegation zone, but they should be able to deliver a high-scoring encounter.
There have been over 2.5 goals in the last seven Burton matches in all competitions while it is four out of the last six from a West Ham perspective. I think both teams will score in this game and West Ham will win, which means over 2.5 goals will land on that theory.
Southampton vs Leicester @ 4/6
Usually I’m wary of backing the same two teams putting in a repeat performance so close after a league meeting, but I’ll make an exception here. Leicester raced into a three goal lead against the Saints in midweek, but somehow collapsed to lose 4-3 at the King Power in additional time.
This Leicester team is in serious trouble this term and you’d hope they could put in a decent display with the pressure off in the FA Cup. Southampton have one of the Championship’s best squads and a fantastic attack, so perhaps against my better judgement - I’m backing this game to contain plenty of goals once again.
Aston Villa vs Newcastle @ 8/13
Sixteen of Newcastle 26 league matches this season have seen over 2.5 goals and it has also landed in their last four outings in all competitions. Meanwhile Aston Villa have been a frugal side of late, with four of their last seven games ending 1-0 in all competitions, but I just feel they may take the handbrake off and the cup feel to this tie should work in our favour.
Newcastle won’t set up particularly defensively at Villa Park and if they land the first goal, it puts the impetus on Villa to come out and beat them. I think we should get an entertaining contest between these two giants on Saturday.

Cardiff vs Luton @ 4/5
A giant game in League 1 has also caught my eye this weekend as pre-season favourites Luton Town travel to face league leaders Cardiff City. Brian Barry-Murphy’s side have been exceptional this term and lead in-form Lincoln City by two points, topping the goalscoring charts with 55 in the league.
Four of the last five Cardiff games have seen three goals or more, while Luton beat Bradford 2-1 last time out and should open up if they concede first.
Sheffield Wednesday vs Millwall @ 10/11
Sheffield Wednesday haven’t scored since Boxing Day so it may seem strange to include them in an over 2.5 goals acca, but honestly, they are so bad it makes perfect sense. They are evidently getting worse since the departure of former captain Barry Bannan, and the Scot returns this weekend with his new club Millwall.
Alex Neil’s men look like a top side this term and should dominate this game against a Wednesday side that is probably playing at a League 2 standard right now. Millwall can certainly bag at least three at Hillsborough.
