Nordi Mukiele (Manchester City vs Sunderland, Sat 15:00) @ 16/5

I'm always happy to back whoever is likely to be marking Jeremy Doku for a card, given the Manchester City winger's ability to draw fouls.

The 23-year-old is averaging 1.6 fouls won per game in the Premier League this season, which is actually lower than in the Uefa Champions League (2.6 per game).

Football Odds

Using Doku's former teammate, Jack Grealish, who is spending the season on loan at Everton, as inspiration, I'm predicting a Nordi Mukiele card at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Like Doku, Grealish is a left-sided midfielder who is a foul magnet. The City loanee is averaging 3.1 fouls won per game in the 2025/26 Premier League, and in Everton's 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light last month, he was, officially, fouled twice, once by Trai Hume, who was booked for his indiscretion, and once by Grant Xhaka.

Hume is a prime candidate to be booked on Saturday, too, as he could line up at right wing-back, but his place in the starting XI is less assured than Mukiele, who will play either as a right-sided centre-back or at right-back.

Mukiele was also cautioned against Everton, picking up his second yellow of the season after four in 15 Bundesliga appearances (10 starts) for Bayer Leverkusen in 2024/25.

Doku could do some damage against the Frenchman, who scored an own-goal in a 1-1 draw at Liverpool in midweek, at the Etihad.

Carlos Baleba (Brighton vs West Ham, Sun 14:00) @ 13/5

Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba picked up seven yellows in 27 Premier League appearances during his debut season for the Seagulls in 2023/24, and in 2024/25, he went one further, receiving eight yellows and one red in 34 games.

The 21-year-old has been booked four times in 14 league matches this term, and once in three Carabao Cup contests.

Premier League Odds

On Sunday, the Cameroon international could be up against West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen and their returning playmaker Lucas Paqueta, who are averaging 1.9 and two fouls won per game, respectively, in this season's Premier League.

Bowen was fouled five times in Thursday's 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford, with Ayden Heaven and Luke Shaw both booked for upending the West Ham winger.

In the same game, Soungoutou Magassa was unfairly challenged four times in the Irons' midfield engine room, while Mateus Fernandes, starting from the left-hand side of midfield and drifting inside, was taken down twice.

So, Baleba could have a lot of work to do in the middle of Brighton's midfield on Sunday, making him a standout candidate in the Player to Receive a Card market at the Amex Stadium.

Ladislav Krejci (Wolves vs Manchester United, Mon 20:00) @ 9/4

Wolves' main midfield enforcer, Joao Gomes, is suspended for Monday night's game against Manchester United at Molineux after picking up his fifth yellow card of the Premier League campaign in Wednesday's 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

With Marshall Munetsi also likely to miss out through injury, Rob Edwards is short on options as he searches for a midfield partner to Andre.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde is an option there, but he's someone who offers less defensive solidity, so Edwards may turn to Ladislav Krejci, who has missed his side's last two games with a knee injury, but is back in training ahead of Monday.

Today's Football Fixtures

Krejci is a centre-back by trade, but he has played in midfield before for Wolves, who may need him to help Andre stop former Molineux favourite Matheus Cunha, who is averaging 1.8 fouls won per game in the Premier League this season.

Krejci is averaging 1.7 fouls per game in the competition for Wolves, picking up one yellow in his first nine appearances, while he was booked in his final La Liga game for Girona against Villarreal on August 24.

The Czech Republic international was a serial carder in the Spanish top flight last season, receiving 10 yellows in 28 matches, and if he starts on Monday, expect him to offer out some rough treatment to Cunha.
