AC Milan vs PSG Prediction: Mbappe can add to Pioli’s troubles

The other game in Newcastle United’s Champions League group sees the meeting of two European giants, as AC Milan host PSG. Below we’ve previewed the big match and taken a look at a couple of betting selections for you to consider. 

Team News

Stefano Pioli has a whole host of injuries to contend with at the moment. Pierre Kalulu has just been ruled out for four months following surgery, while Simon Kjaer has a muscle injury. 

Marco Sportiello and Marco Pellegrino are both out, as are Ismael Bennacer and Mattia Caldara as Pioli tries to cobble together an XI. Theo Hernandez missed the weekend match with an ankle injury, as did Samuel Chukwueze and Christian Pulisic, although all three could return here. 

For PSG, Danilo Pereira suffered a hamstring injury which will keep him out for a month, while Nuno Mendes, Sergio Rico and Presenl Kimpembe all remain sidelined. Keylor Navas and Marco Asensio are also expected to miss this match, while there is the possibility that Lucas Hernandez could return to the starting XI to face his brother.

AC Milan are 15/8 to win this match, with a draw available at 12/5. PSG are the favourites at 23/20, while BTTS is available to back at 8/13. Over 2.5 goals is 8/11 and Kylian Mbappe is 6/5 to score anytime.

A straightforward pick this one, but one I’m happy to get behind. Even though both sides are suffering with major injury issues, AC Milan have felt the full force of their absentees. They’ve failed to win any of their last four matches, losing the reverse fixture here 3-0, while they’ve also lost 1-0 to Juventus and Udinese in recent weeks. 

This worrying trend is likely to continue when they host PSG here, as the Parisians have won their last five games in style. Having been hammered at Newcastle, they have bounced back and their 3-0 win over Milan two weeks ago was incredibly impressive.

Here, they should be able to get another win, against a side lacking in confidence. Milan currently sit bottom of the group on just two points, while PSG top it with six points. Another win here and Luis Enrique’s side can plan for the knockout stages. 

Kylian Mbappe to score 2+ @ 7/1

Mbappe has scored ten in ten in Ligue 1 this season, while in the Champions League he has scored two in three, including once against Milan in the 3-0 win. Interestingly, Mbappe has scored four braces this season and at San Siro, he is likely to tear apart a fragile Milan defence. 

The home side have lost their confidence over the last few weeks and I can see this one ending in a comfortable win for the away side. With several key defenders out injured, Mbappe can take full advantage and the 7/1 on him to score twice feels generous.
