Aberdeen welcome Celtic to Pittodrie with the Dons desperate to bounce back from a weekend mauling at Ibrox. Jimmy Thelin’s men lost 4-0 in Govan three days ago, and it could’ve been much worse as Barry Ferguson’s side turned on the style in the second half. Aberdeen are competing with Hibs for a third-place finish, making this game a must-win. Will they deliver their fans a crucial three points?
Celtic are home and hosed in the Scottish Premiership, winning another title with plenty to spare. The Bhoys have wrapped up both the League Cup and Premiership titles, and have a golden opportunity to complete the treble in an upcoming Scottish Cup final. Will the visitors have one eye on the decider at Hampden in just ten days? Few fans would blame Brendan Rodgers for concentrating on the bigger picture.
Aberdeen may be the home team with all still to play for against an opponent with nothing to lose, but Betfred traders have been quick to write off the locals. Aberdeen enter following two defeats on the bounce, losing 1-0 to St Mirren in Paisley before suffering the humiliation of Sunday’s demolition derby. Will they make a timely return to winning ways against the best team in Scotland this season? Aberdeen is 9/2 at Betfred to defeat the Hoops.
Celtic travel from Glasgow to Aberdeen on a strong run of form, showing why they are the champions. Since the split, Rodgers’ Bhoys have won two and drawn one, ending 1-1 at Ibrox in the spare. They thrashed Dundee United 5-0 at Tannadice, held the Gers to a level finish, and swept past Hibs 3-1 at Parkhead on Saturday. Do you expect the league leaders to move onto 91 points? Back Celtic at 8/13 or chance the draw at 16/5.
Both teams to score
Our first bet at Pittodrie on Wednesday evening is for both teams to score before a huge audience in the Granite City while millions more follow the play live on TV. The stats show backing both Aberdeen and Celtic to find the net would’ve landed you a profit in two of the four games involving these teams this season. They ended 2-2 in Glasgow back in October before Celtic strolled to a 5-1 home win in February.
Aberdeen have failed to score in their previous two road trips, but they were on target when last at home, beating Hibs 1-0. It’s also worth knowing Jimmy Thelin’s side battled to a four-goal draw when hosting Rangers last month. Celtic have conceded a goal in each of their last two league games, once at Ibrox and another when beating Hibs on Saturday. Add both teams to score to your midweek multiples.

Aberdeen win
Our second pick at Pittodrie comes at a much better price as we take a chance on Aberdeen to deliver their fans a memorable home win against the Premiership champions. With the teams scheduled to meet in the Scottish Cup final, Wednesday is an opportunity for Thelin’s side to show they can compete with the Rodgers’ Hoops.
A win for Aberdeen would keep them in the hunt for a third-place finish, ensuring the race with Hibs goes to the final day of the season. With Celtic having nothing to aim at in midweek, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Rodgers give game time to several fringe players. The experienced boss introduced some promising young talent on Saturday, and I expect that to continue in the remaining matches. We’ll need plenty of luck here, but Aberdeen at home against an opponent with nothing to win gives us a crack at a nice price.
If you like both selections, you can back Aberdeen to emerge victorious and BTTS at 7/1 here at Betfred.
