For the third time in three weekends, we are going racing as Formula One heads to Saudi Arabia. After Max Verstappen won in Japan and Oscar Piastri won in Bahrain, the race for the Drivers’ Championship is shaping up to be very interesting indeed.

Lando Norris currently leads the way on 77 points, Piastri is on 74, Verstappen 69 and George Russell on 63 in the early stages of the 2025 season. But how will they fare this weekend? You can find my Saudi Arabia Grand Prix 2025 Predictions down below.

Saudi Arabia Grand Prix 2025 Predictions

  • Oscar Piastri Race Winner @ 11/8
  • George Russell Podium Finish @ 11/10
  • Oliver Bearman Points Finish @ 11/4

Oscar Piastri Race Winner @ 11/8

I think the first thing we should note is that there has been a seismic shift in the betting for the winner of the Drivers’ Championship. Norris has lost the tag of favourite to his teammate, and Piastri is now 1/1 to win the title come the end of the year.

If that doesn’t make you believe something is stirring in the waters then nothing will. For context, Max is 10/1 and George Russell is 16/1, so the ball is firmly in McLaren’s court. I think they will come out on top this weekend and I know it isn’t a sexy pick, but what we’ve seen so far is that Zak Brown and his team have the best car on the grid.

Consistency has been decent in the four races, but the one surprise has perhaps been how competitive Piastri is with his teammate. It was thought that Lando would be given the chance to flourish in the number one seat this term, especially given some of the unselfishness he showed at the back-end of 2024. However, the truth is, he just hasn’t been quick enough.

As we spoke about last week, this could cause problems for McLaren and their Drivers’ Championship ambitions as they share the points between both drivers, but Piastri has proven himself to be too good to hold back in the first four. Two wins to his name, including a ‘Verstappen-esque’ dominant win in Bahrain means that he is the man I’ll back to take his third race win at the start of the 2025 season. Sorry Lando, but you’ve now got to dig in and show something extra to prove you are number one this year.

George Russell Podium Finish @ 11/10

Mr Saturday has now become Mr Consistent. The Mercedes he is driving isn’t quite as fast as the McLaren, but you can be damn sure that Russell is going to get his car at the top end of the rankings when the chequered flag is waved.

This season he posted third-place finishes in Australia and China, came fifth in Japan and then returned to the podium with a second-place finish in Bahrain. Once again, he isn’t having to win races to put himself within striking distance of the top of the Drivers’ standings, and there’s an argument to be made that he has been the most consistent performer of 2025 so far.

Unlike the McLarens, Mercedes have a clear pecking order now that Lewis Hamilton has departed for Ferrari, and I think that is really allowing Russell to flourish. I’m expecting him to build on another successful weekend with another podium finish at a decent price.

Oliver Bearman Points Finish @ 11/4

Backed it last week - it came in. So let’s back it again because the value is there. There just isn’t a lot to choose between the bottom 12 this year, and so it means points are up for grabs every single race weekend. If we are talking about talent alone, I’ve been so impressed with Oliver Bearman over the past few months and I think he could be the best of the rest.

Although I still have my doubts about the Haas he is driving, both of their cars finished in the points in Bahrain so perhaps they have found some consistency.  The value here doesn’t make much sense given this has been a winning selection in the last three Grands Prix, with Bearman scooping 10th spot for three consecutive weeks.

Bearman has now managed to finish in the points in five of his seven Grands Prix in total, so I see no reason why we should keep on riding this winning horse. Until his odds shorten or Haas hit real trouble, you will continue to see me backing Bearman.
