So here we are. Four races to go and just one point separates current leader Lando Norris from his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri, although there is the shadow of Max Verstappen waiting to pounce in the background. The Papaya cars are going to be so aware of each other over these final four races that any team orders will surely be ignored, and they could trip each other up in South America.

The Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace - better known as Interlagos - has been Verstappen’s playground over the past two years. Last season, in a rain-affected Grand Prix, he qualified in 12th but raced through the pack to secure one of the best wins of his career. In 2023, he beat Lando to the flag by eight seconds in the full race, and he also won the Sprint event.

Now, I know it’s easy to get caught up in the hype that we are experiencing towards the end of the season, but Verstappen has consistently proven himself to be the best driver on the circuit - even if the McLarens may have slightly more pace. We know that the four-time world champion can handle the pressure when it comes down to it, and we don’t have any evidence that Lando or Oscar can do the same.

Both are inexperienced when it comes to a crunch title race like this, and Verstappen has four titles in his cabinet to show that he will not crumble. I’m not going to stick my neck out on the line and say he will win the title outright given the 36-point gap, BUT, I will back him to win for the third year in a row at Interlagos.

If the rain comes as expected, Verstappen can pounce and make this title race really interesting…

Nico Hulkenberg points finish @ 11/10

I like picking out an outsider to perform well and last week Oliver Bearman overdelivered in this market as he came within a whisker of finishing on the podium. That was a winner for us and I’m looking elsewhere in Brazil, this time to Nico Hulkenberg.

Hulk registered his first podium of his career at Silverstone this season and although he DNF’d in Mexico, he was eighth in the USA and has shown decent pace at various spells in 2025. Interlagos tends to throw us a curveball every once in a while, especially when it comes to podiums, and an unpredictable weather forecast.

The German was third in Friday’s practice sessions, 0.577 seconds away from Piastri’s best time, and I think he’s shown enough for me to back him here. I won’t go as far as the top three, but a points finish seems like a sensible pick for the experienced Kick Sauber driver.
