Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2025 Predictions: 5/2 tip as Piastri edges closer to title

Having finally seen McLaren’s grip on Formula 1 loosened slightly in Italy last time out, the dominant Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris will look to record an eighth papaya one-two of 2025 in Sunday’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix (live on Sky Sports F1 from 11:55 BST, highlights on Channel 4 at 17:30).
The Baku City Circuit provides the venue as Max Verstappen aims to notch up a second straight win having broken up a run of five McLaren successes at Monza. Below you can find my Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2025 predictions.

Odds correct at the time of publication
Oscar Piastri to win @ 6/4
Holding a 31-point advantage coming into this 17th race of the season, Oscar will be smarting from the fact that his lead isn't as wide as 37 points following a frankly laughable team-orders call at Monza.
That decision to promote Lando Norris into second after a shoddy pit stop - which drew giggles from Verstappen's cockpit - could yet become a big deal further down the line if Piastri were to suffer a retirement similar to Lando's at Zandvoort three weeks back.
But for now, there doesn't look likely to be great controversy come the season's end. That's because the Australian has outperformed his teammate when it has counted.
While they have an 8-8 record this year in terms of the head-to-head battle, Piastri has seven wins to Lando's five and has - crucially - kept his car on the road at a 100% clip.
He's also finished on the podium in all but one of his drives since Round 2's visit to China. So, all things being equal, I'm expecting him to have the pace necessary to pick up an eighth victory here.
Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2025 Odds
He's a 6/4 bet, implying a 40% probability of this one coming in, while Lando is 2/1 and Verstappen 7/2.
Outside of the big three, Charles Leclerc is 15/2 and George Russell - the only driver other than the leading trio to win a race in 2025 - is 20/1 to bring his Mercedes home in first place once more.

Lance Stroll points finish @ 5/2
There has been plenty of talk about Lance Stroll of late, with claims that the Aston Martin driver has wanted to quit Formula One for some time and has been dissuaded by his father Lawrence, the part-owner and executive chair of the team.
But that hasn’t stopped Lance performing reasonably well on race day in recent weeks, with three seventh-place finishes in his last five attempts.
He was 18th at Monza last time out, with his qualifying issues again causing trouble. Not since Silverstone 2024 has Stroll entered race day in front of his teammate, Fernando Alonso.
Yet his form has still picked up on Sundays of late, and I think he’s a fair shot for a top-10 finish once more in Baku.
Having failed to score in eight successive races, he broke that duck with six points at the British Grand Prix and has since matched that performance in both Hungary and the Netherlands.
And 5/2 is a great price for a guy who has developed a degree of consistency of late, with that poor showing in the Italian GP giving him good reason to want to bounce back with a bang.
